Are you ready to meditate with Kari?
Make sure that you're comfortable in your bed.
That everything is just right in your room.
So that you can relax your body.
And let go of your busy,
Busy day.
Tucker and Leo had decided to have a painting night for the very first time.
They were super excited.
They'd not had a painting night before.
They'd invited some of their friends over.
Linnea Jane Aria June.
Jane,
Natalie and Claire.
Everyone had got a set of paintbrushes.
They'd all got.
A set of paints.
A big giant piece of painting paper that they could paint on,
As well as an easel.
They put all of their chairs in a big circle so no one could watch each other paint,
But they could see each other as they painted.
What are we going to paint?
" said Tucker.
I've been so excited about this for like two weeks.
I'm telling you,
I've been practicing.
I've been sticking my paws in paint and I've been painting on the floor and Mummy was not happy.
Mummy was very,
Very,
Very,
Very not happy.
Was she,
Leo?
Leo said.
No,
I mean the whole point of painting,
Tucker,
Is to paint on paper,
Not on mum's floor.
Well,
I couldn't help myself because the colours were so luminous and so bright and so delicious.
And I was like,
Do I eat this paint?
Do I lick it?
Do I taste it?
Does it smell nice?
Not really,
It doesn't.
It just smells a bit chemically,
If you ask me.
I didn't want to eat it,
Which is very unusual for me because I want to eat everything.
Jane said,
What shall we paint anyway?
Arya June suggested that they painted a hummingbird.
Oh,
I like that idea.
I like hummingbirds a lot.
They're very,
Very nice and we can do lots of different colours.
Everyone agreed that painting a hummingbird would be a really nice thing to paint.
They started to paint.
Tucker decided he was going to use his paws.
Which ended up being very,
Very messy.
Leo used a paintbrush because he was too concerned about the paint going between his toes and causing a rash,
So he definitely used a paintbrush.
The girls,
The rest of them,
All used paintbrushes.
Linea Jane's hummingbird was bright green with a yellow chest.
Aria June's hummingbird was green with a purple chest.
Jane,
Natalie and Claire all painted different hummingbirds as well.
Claire's was bright pink.
Natalie's was yellow and green.
And Jane's was purple and yellow.
Leo's hummingbird was multicolored,
All different colors,
All different,
All mixed in together.
He was so excited about all the different colors that he couldn't decide which one to put where,
So he just put bits of different colors everywhere.
It was like a rainbow rainbow hummingbird.
Took us was very messy.
He kept picking different coloured paints because there were so many nice ones to choose from and every time he picked a different colour he would put his paw in it and stick it on top of another colour and the colours all got kind of gross and messed up.
The more colours he added to try and keep it different colours,
The more the colours mixed together.
And he ended up with browns and greys and it was just not what he wanted.
But he still liked it.
He decided that his painting was very,
Very reflective of his mood and his artistic taste.
So he wasn't worried about it at all.
While they painted,
They played music.
Tooka was singing along.
Bibbidi-bob-bob-badoo-badoo-ba Bibbidi-bob-bob-badoo-badoo-ba Bibbidi-bob-bob-badoo-badoo-ba Bibbidi-bob-bob-badoo-da Leo said that Tucker's singing was a bit distracting.
I can't focus,
Tooker,
Said Leo.
Oh,
I'm sorry,
Leo.
I know you're so sensitive to light,
To sound,
To foods,
To perfumes,
To dogs,
To cats,
To people,
To different clothes and material,
To.
.
.
Leo said,
OK,
OK,
I get it.
But,
I mean,
What does everybody else think?
Is Tucker singing annoying or is it nice?
There was quite a common consensus that Tukka's bibbidi-bop-bop was a little bit annoying.
Tucker just went quiet.
Okay,
Okay,
He said.
Then he was just shrugging his shoulders and bopping around,
Internally,
Not singing anymore,
But just dancing while he was doing his painting.
A couple of the girls were swishing from side to side.
They were enjoying themselves thoroughly also.
And when the time came to actually stop painting and everyone had to put the paws or the paintbrushes down,
They did so.
To keep it.
Suspenseful as long as possible,
They decided to pause on showing everyone their paintings.
They were going to go outside since it was a lovely day.
And have a little food break.
A little picnic of sorts.
They all went into the kitchen to prepare.
The Picnic They made strawberry lemonade and lime lemonade.
They made sandwiches with cheese on,
Salami sandwiches.
Tucker was eating all of the salami while they were preparing everything.
So there was only one salami sandwich by the time he'd eaten all the salami.
They made cupcakes that were pre-bought.
They didn't actually cook the cupcakes,
But they put them on a nice plate.
In the shape of a flower and they looked very pretty.
They got napkins.
They got water in case people just wanted to drink water.
And they also got some apple slices and some bananas in case anybody wanted fruit.
They put it all on a big tray and took it outside to sit in the garden.
Tucker was munching on almost everything.
Oh,
He's so delicious.
Everything is so delicious.
Well done,
Girls.
I mean,
I do like a picnic.
Don't you like a picnic,
Leo?
Leo nodded.
He did like a picnic.
Picnics had something very calming and nice and quiet about them.
Everyone tended to just sit down on a blanket and maybe chat,
Or just gaze up at the sky,
Sunbathe,
Read a book.
Just,
It's kind of a lounging energy,
Is a picnic.
That was right up Leo's alley.
He liked anything loungy and quiet and slow.
Natalie spotted a hummingbird.
It was coming to the hummingbird feeder that Tucker and Leo's mum had put on the back garden.
It was a big glass ball and it had a spout on it.
And like a red,
Pinkish flower on the end of the spout.
And the hummingbird food inside of the ball.
Would pour into the spout,
And then the hummingbirds would come and put their long,
Long beaks into the spout,
Where the flower was,
As if they were sipping nectar from a flower.
Everyone be quiet!
" said Tooka,
Very loud.
Kinda defeating the object about being quiet,
But the hummingbird didn't seem to mind the noise.
Its wings were moving and flying so fast.
Everyone stared at it with a whole new appreciation for the fact that they'd just painted it.
This hummingbird was green.
The feathers on its chest were golden green.
And then it had a pink head.
It was so pretty.
At one point the hummingbird flew right in front of Leo's face and stopped and just hovered there for the longest time.
As if it was checking its eyes out.
I wonder if.
.
.
Leo's eye is a flower.
You could almost hear their hummingbird things.
Leo's eye was not to flower and luckily the hummingbird did not try and poke it to see if it had any nectar in it.
But Leo just froze.
What do I do?
He said.
Took a zip.
Ooh!
Gosh,
You're so lucky.
Do you know,
Leo,
Do you know that hummingbirds actually metaphorically mean lighten up?
Lighten up.
So when you see a hummingbird,
It's telling you,
Chill out,
Relax,
Lighten up,
Lighten up.
Don't take life so seriously.
Don't take the world so seriously.
Don't take yourself so seriously.
That's what a hummingbird is saying.
Lighten up,
Lighten up,
Lighten up.
Leo said,
I didn't think I was that heavy.
Oh,
Leo,
Leo,
Leo.
Not heavy so much,
But serious.
Most of the time,
Leo,
You're very serious.
You're a very serious doggie,
Leo.
I mean,
If I'm joking around a lot of the time,
You just kind of go,
Oh,
Tucker,
Stop it.
All the time,
Leo.
Oh,
Tucker,
Stop it.
Oh,
Tucker,
Don't do that.
Oh,
Tucker,
Stop playing around.
Tucker,
Stop singing.
It's annoying.
Exactly what you did to me just earlier,
Just then.
Was not annoying at all.
Bibbidi-bop-bop,
Bid-bid-bidoo-bidoo,
Bidibbidi-bop-bop-bop.
It's a very happy song,
Leo.
Leo frowned.
The hummingbird flew away.
Then,
A couple of minutes later,
A different hummingbird came to the bird feeder.
Aria June started clapping.
But then she clapped quietly.
And then she remembered that she saw on her programme sometimes when you're not supposed to clap and make a lot of noise,
You can just rub the ends of your fingers together as if you're doing tiny little claps,
Like a miniature clap.
Tucker started rubbing his paws together,
His two front paws,
As if he was doing the same thing.
And then he started laughing.
Oh,
That's funny.
And when I try and do that,
My balance goes all funny and I end up falling on my bum.
Everyone watch The Hummingbird.
This hummingbird had a purple chest.
And green.
It was green everywhere else.
Except this brilliant,
Shiny,
Metallic,
Purple-looking chest.
It did the same thing as the other hummingbird.
It hovered right there and stuck its long beak down into the spout to drink the hummingbird food.
This hummingbird flew really close to Claire,
Stared into her eyes.
Claire said,
Oh my gosh,
Is it gonna eat me?
Tucker said,
No,
No,
No,
It's just telling you lighten up,
Claire.
Have you been too serious today?
Have you,
Have you had a day where you've been very melancholy kind of?
Have you had a day where you've been very,
I don't know,
Just inwardly,
Inwardly,
Not outwardly?
Is that how you would say it?
Is that how you would say it?
Claire thought about it for a second and said,
Actually,
I am kind of serious and quiet today.
Okay.
See?
" said Tooker.
The hummingbird can sense it.
Lighten up,
My little Clare,
Lighten up.
That's what the hummingbird is saying.
Come on,
Chill out,
Relax.
Don't take life so seriously.
And then Tucker started singing.
Ooh,
Ooh,
Ooh,
Ooh,
Ooh,
Ooh,
Ooh,
Ooh.
Aria June and Jane Natalie and Linnea Jane all joined in.
Oh,
Don't worry.
Oh,
Don't worry.
Ooh,
Ooh,
Ooh,
Ooh,
Ooh.
Leo said,
OK,
OK,
I get it.
I get it.
Stop with the singing.
Then he started laughing.
It worked.
Leo lightened up.
A good belly laugh is worth it.
Tucker said,
Keep laughing,
Leo,
Keep laughing,
It feels so good.
Everyone rolled around and had a good belly laugh.
And then it was time to go inside and go look at the paintings.
Everyone at once turned their painting around so that they could all look at each other's paintings in the circle.
They were awesome.
Every single one of them was so good and so different.
Some very,
Like,
Nuan Garvey.
Some of them were very traditionally painted.
Some of them were very abstract.
Some of them were more like watercolors where they'd added a lot of water.
So the paints were very pale and pastel-like.
All of them.
Were exceptional.
Everyone gave each other a clap.
This time a loud clap.
It was such a fun thing to do.
They all decided that they would definitely do a paint night date again.
Paint Night dates are so fun!
Jane said,
Maybe next time we can all paint each other.
That would be funny.
Everyone agreed that that would be a really good idea.
Painting each other would be hilarious.
Gosh knows what Leo and Tuckers would look like.
They wash the paintbrushes and put them away,
Put the paints away.
They put the paintings on the table,
The kitchen table,
So that they could dry.
And then eventually the girls went home.
Tucker and Leo had a good wash.
They scrubbed off all the paint from in between Tucker's toes and his paws.
And then they lay down on their comfortable,
Soft dog bed.
Snuggled in together.
And fell fast asleep.
The end.
