Are you ready to meditate with Corrie?

Climb up into your bed and get super,

Super quiet.

Make sure that everything is just right in your room.

The lights are just right.

You're wearing your cosy comfies and that way all is well in the world.

So that you can relax your body and hopefully,

Eventually fall fast asleep.

Coriander was in the forest.

She had a basket on one of her arms.

Her favourite black velvet cloak.

It was getting cool where she lived.

She had the hood up.

She looked just like Little Red Riding Hood but black.

Her witchy style coming through.

She was wearing a thick black corduroy dungaree dress.

It was a big skirt and it had a bib on it like dungarees,

Like overalls.

And underneath it,

A white blouse with puffy sleeves and a frilly collar.

Black boots,

Black tights.

She was on the hunt for clothes.

Halloween was just around the corner.

Fall was definitely here for her.

There was many leaves on the ground in the forest.

Yellow ones,

Golden,

Brown,

Red.

A lot of the leaves were still in the trees.

They weren't completely bare yet.

But winter was definitely coming.

She was cold but she needed clothes.

She had a project.

Something to ward off dark spirits around Halloween time.

She managed to collect many clothes.

The rich fragrant smell wafting up as she carried them back home to where she lived.

When she got home,

Coriander took off her big cloak and hung it up by the fire.

She took off her boots and slipped on her comfy soft slippers.

She went over to the table where she made all of her spells and emptied out all of the clothes onto the table.

She sifted through them,

Pulling out bits of leaves and twigs that were also in the basket.

She had a bowl of oranges by the sink that she'd previously washed earlier when she brought the oranges over to her table.

The orange fragrance was very fresh and intoxicating.

She rubbed one of her nails on the skin of the orange and the oils sprayed everywhere and it smelt super,

Super orangey.

The delicious mix of orange and clove was the best smell in the world,

She thought.

Coriander pulled up a chair.

She started to stick the spiky part of the cloves into the orange skin,

Making patterns as she went.

Sometimes she made circles round and around and around.

And sometimes she made lines following each other.

And then when she finished with the orange,

She tied a delicate black ribbon around the orange with a bow on top.

Part of it was knotted so that she could hang them.

Coriander sat there for a long time,

Making cloved oranges.

These cloved oranges had special powers.

Not only did they make things smell delicious,

They actually warded off dark spirits,

Bad spirits,

Any kind of ghosts or anything that goes woohoo in the night.

Coriander loved Halloween.

It was her favourite time of year.

But hanging these oranges around the house,

One outside of her door before anybody came in,

It kept her house protected from the outside.

She hung one in her wardrobe just because it made her clothes smell so nice.

She hung one over the hearth where the fire and the stove was.

She hung them by the windows.

So each of the entry ways into her home were covered by this protective ritual that she made.

Coriander was looking forward to Halloween now that she was fully protected.

After such a long day of trekking through the woods,

Coriander's little feet hurt.

She was tired.

She decided to get changed and put on her pyjamas.

She brushed her teeth and climbed up into bed and started to read one of her favourite Halloween witch books.

It was a story about a witch,

About the age that she was,

That roamed the lands trying to find the best Halloween celebrations.

And every year she would travel somewhere different,

Joining in in different villages and towns as they celebrated Halloween.

Each chapter was a different place and a different town.

Coriander loved the book because it had so many different adventures in it and really good ideas of what to do for Halloween parties.

Eventually though she got tireder,

Even more tired and her eyes wouldn't stay open.

So she closed her book,

Rolled over onto her side and snuggled into a pillow that she always hugged at night.

She closed her eyes and started to let her body get heavier and heavier.

It didn't take Coriander very long before she fell fast asleep.

She started to dream.

The sky was full of witches flying here,

There and everywhere.

Witches bumping into each other.

As if there was really bad traffic.

No one was organised.

No one was getting into a flow.

Everybody was just rushing about in all different directions.

As if all the witches had lost their minds or something.

She was trying to fly in a straight line and it was impossible.

Witches kept buzzing in front,

Almost knocking her off her broom.

What on earth is going on with these people,

She thought.

She realised that she had one of her oranges with the clove stuck in it,

Dangling from it.

And no other witches did.

Ah,

These witches aren't prepared,

Obviously.

She smiled to herself in her dream,

Feeling like she was the only one out there that had actually prepared herself for Halloween.

Eventually that dream drifted away and Coriander slept.

Her legs were so heavy.

Her arms felt heavy.

Her whole body was tired.

So,

So tired.

She drifted deeper and deeper into sleep.

Just waiting for Halloween.

The best time of the year for her.

Sweet dreams,

My little witchy-poos.
