Welcome to the guided audio for checking in with yourself and beginning to believe that your basic needs are as important as everybody else's.

So just take a moment and settle back.

Just feel the weight of yourself in this moment,

Sitting in the chair,

Your back against the chair.

And tuning into the body and the heart center,

The mind,

Noticing where there's tightness or distraction.

I invite you to ask yourself,

What do I need today?

What do I need today to meet my basic needs of community and significance?

My needs of connection,

Physical well-being,

And awareness.

You may need alone time or silence.

You may need joy or something creative or connection.

You may need basic things such as sleep or water or good food.

What is one thing you could do for yourself today?

I want to thank you for taking this time for yourself today.

And as we finish,

I invite you to write down that one thing and decide before you move forward in your day how you're going to fit it in.

What are you going to do to meet that need and how?

Fantastic reminder to recognize and tune into our needs each day, whatever they may be. A little more of a pause after the question was posed would have been nice, but as there is no music and there is instruction to determine how to fit this into our day moving forward (and to consider writing it down), there is ample time after this brief jewel of a practice concludes to further refine our answers to the question.
