A very big aloha.
My name is Reverend Cindy Polozin.
I've been living on Maui here for 36 or 37 years.
And.
It's really been an amazing experience.
I have to say I was going to try to express it in the way that we share on Maui.
The chant.
And the gift of the chant and how it's used.
A chant and Hawaiian tradition.
Some of them go back over 100 years,
200 years.
And they're calling,
They're calling,
And I've learned a few of them and I've done a few.
And their calling of spirit coming to earth.
And it's done with this chant,
Which includes the energy and the sound.
And it's ancient sounds and a lot of vowels.
And it really does invoke something.
I learned from a teacher friend of mine.
Who now has passed away.
Who actually called in also the Indian tradition as well.
And she would face the four directions,
You know,
You'd follow.
Face each forward direction and do so.
Your hands up to the air,
Calling in the energy.
One hand to be up to the air,
One hand to be down,
Facing down to the earth.
And what you're doing is you're calling in the energy from heaven to earth.
And from the highest there,
And it's going through you.
And then it's also shared.
With the people who are present.
It's a very powerful.
Way of honoring and calling in spirit.
And it's done for funerals.
It's done for weddings.
It's done for many special occasions,
A blessing.
In the Hawaiian tradition,
Almost every building has a blessing that takes place.
Moving into a new home,
You're Often tradition is to bless the place you're going to be living in,
Clear the old spirits out,
And call in the new.
I find it to be an amazing gift that I've been able to see and participate in over the years.
And I haven't really seen a counterpart that is quite equal to that.
Now,
Of course,
You go to church at a funeral or the passing of a loved one,
And I think the closest thing I found is the singing of the songs by the choir.
That has a beautiful energy,
Because some of these songs go way back and are often and spoken and their prayers that go way back.
And they're spoken.
So there's that wonderful gift that can happen through song.
That can honor that energy as well.
And there's a great tradition behind some of the songs.
And I happen to be a person who loves songs,
Writes songs,
And have a lot of fun.
Friends who create those songs as well,
And I do know the power of those songs as well.
Now,
Of course,
In the Hawaiian tradition,
You do the song as well as the chant.
You will have,
Most often,
Someone come and play a song and sing the song for you.
And,
You know,
There's many Hawaiian words in the sharing of the aloha through these songs.
And it's so beautiful.
And I really do feel that we can invoke this energy.
In lots of ways,
But we need to be able to not be.
Afraid or too subconsciously afraid.
Afraid of judgment.
And we need to be open to that power of that energy and believe.
That energy can be touched upon and brought in and brought down.
And that doesn't happen a lot.
And I really think that gift of being able.
To share that.
That amazing power of the energy that comes from the highest.
I'm through you to you.
And around you is really something that is very,
Very important.
Important.
And that tradition is something I really truly honor.
And how anyone might wish to incorporate this is up to them,
But people get very self-conscious and they don't go to that same place sometimes because they're too self-conscious and don't want to be judged by other people.
But boy,
If you can find a way to share.
At an important time to share that music,
That sound,
That tradition.
That blessing that comes from the highest.
I find something so beautiful.
In these traditions of blessings that happen here on Maui very frequently.
I've done a few of them and I have a friend that makes her living doing them.
That's what she does.
She does blessings and she does weddings.
And it's always beautiful.
She dresses up in the Hawaiian tradition.
She's not Hawaiian,
But people like to see that.
They don't know if she's Hawaiian or not,
But she dresses up like that.
But it is a way to make something,
A ceremony that is special.
That people can have.
Now,
If we don't have that,
We can still participate in sharing a blessing.
Of a new home,
Of a new birth.
Blessing of sharing the passing of a loved one.
And it is a beautiful thing to think of how you would share that.
In a meaningful way,
In a way that will actually bring that energy from the highest,
From heaven to earth and from earth to heaven.
And that is such an amazing ability to create that and have that and give that and share that.
That you can then participate in.
That is a beautiful transition ability of some kind,
And able to recognize that sharing,
A sharing of the energy that comes from the highest through you to the earth.
And to the place around you.
And you can do your own blessing.
I'm sure there's blessings you can find online.
You can do your own blessings.
You can do your own energy sharing.
And you can have your own way of doing your own funeral service.
And there's many ways you can make it very,
Very special.
It is important to take the time to recognize and honor that transition of some sort.
That happens.
And when you do that.
I do think there's a shift that happens,
A shift that happens within you and a shift that might be happening on a higher level as well.
And that is a very important thing to honor and to recognize and to share.
And to give and I bow and say.
The deepest of gratitude for you understanding that precious gift.
That we can share when we recognize bringing the energy of heaven to earth and from earth sending it out to those in heaven as well.
My love and gratitude go out to you.
