Before the world was formed,
Before light first touched the dark,
God was there,
Steady,
Loving,
And near.
Tonight,
You're invited to rest in that same presence.
Let your breath slow,
Let the noise fade as you fall asleep to God's creation story.
May your heart remember the same voice that spoke galaxies into being,
Now whispers peace over you.
This is your return to stillness.
Your soul coming home to the one who made you.
You've arrived.
The day is done.
And the world grows quiet again.
And so can you.
But the weight of the day began to slip away.
There's nothing to solve or finish.
All that you accomplished was enough.
Not because everything is done.
But because you've done your best and that's all you can do.
Now it's time to rest.
You are here in this moment.
Held in divine stillness.
Feel the bed beneath you.
With steady support of the Earth itself.
Let your body sink into that gentle gravity.
Your shoulders can loosen.
Your jaw can soften.
Your breath can slow.
Inhale through your nose for 1,
2,
3,
4.
And exhale through your mouth for 4,
3,
2,
1.
Breathing in peace and breathing out release.
Let your breath return to a natural rhythm.
Each inhale reminds you that you are alive.
And each exhale whispers that you are safe.
Let yourself rest in this love.
A love that made you.
That holds you,
That is content to simply be with you in this moment.
Psalm 48 says,
In peace I will lie down and sleep.
For you alone,
O Lord,
Keep me safe.
Let that peace rest over you like a warm blanket.
Now,
As your body settles,
Let your imagination drift back.
Back before your day began.
Before your first breath.
Before there were even stars.
In the beginning,
God was there.
Not in a hurry.
Not in striving.
But imperfect,
Loving stillness.
Before light filled the heavens.
Before sound echoed across the deep.
There was God,
Steady and sure.
Ready to speak beauty into being.
And when God spoke,
Let there be light.
The energy of God's words blazed into existence.
Silence bloomed with radiance.
Matter took shape.
Elements fused and transformed.
Coalescing into a brilliance we still see today.
Light spilled across the cosmos like a river of fire.
And in that light was warmth.
And in that warmth,
The promise of life.
The heavens stretched wide.
The components that would become galaxies began to find one another.
Swirl and dance around one another in slow motion.
Each atom obeyed God's voice.
Each wave of light carrying His glory.
Psalm 19.
1 says,
The heavens proclaim the glory of God,
The skies display his craftsmanship.
And even now,
The night sky hums with the same quiet praise.
Out there in what seems like empty space is more than we can comprehend.
Wavelengths invisible to our eyes,
Yet full of presence.
Power holding galaxies together,
Just as God holds all things in his hands.
Even what appears empty is filled with the mystery of God's sustaining breath.
Colossians 1.
17 reminds us,
He holds all creation together.
Across epochs of time.
God shaped worlds and suns,
Oceans and air,
Mountains that would one day cradle forests and streams.
God did not rush.
Creation unfolded like a song.
Each note layered with wonder.
From molten stone to fertile soil,
The earth took form.
Rain bless the ground.
Seeds stirred awake in the dark.
Roots reached downward.
Green reached upward.
And the breath of God filled it all.
Creator delighted in texture and design.
The softness of moss.
The shimmer of leaves.
The fragrance of cedar and myrrh.
Every living thing,
From the tallest redwood to the smallest blade of grass,
Forming slowly.
Spoken into being by love.
Even the soil beneath our feet,
Alive with unseen life,
Is holy.
It breathes.
It holds memory and promise.
As some of our indigenous brothers and sisters teach us,
The soil is the skin of the earth,
A living body,
A place of communion between all things.
Underneath,
Invisible to the eye,
Life that moves and works.
Sacred network of life below the ground.
Strengthening roots.
Weaving threads of life.
Renewing itself in silence.
Unseen yet essential.
Even there,
God's design at work and play.
Psalm 104 verse 24 whispers,
O Lord,
How manifold are your works!
In wisdom you made them all.
The seas shimmered with movement,
Glimmering schools of fish,
Gentle giants gliding through the deep.
Coral form to cathedrals of color.
Where light filtered like stained glass.
Each drop of water sacred and precious.
Waves carrying rhythms,
Oceans making melodies.
God's Spirit moving over the face of the deep.
From the heights of the sky to the depths of the sea,
Life unfolded in every form.
Winged and finned,
Rooted and roaming.
Each bearing the Creator's delight.
Life unfolded through God's steady intention.
Each creature a reflection of divine imagination.
A symphony of the whole of creation.
A harmony of existence that glorifies the one who made them.
Genesis 2 verse 7 says Then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life.
Humanity.
Fashioned from the dust.
Animated by the breath of God.
Not separate from creation,
But woven from it.
The elements once forged in the stars lives on in you.
The same matter that once shone in distant galaxies now forms your body.
Your breath.
Your heartbeat.
All awakened by the Spirit of God's love.
God's breath in you now,
Filling in.
And pouring out.
Peace,
Life,
And rest.
Every breath you take is part of that ancient rhythm,
The same spirit moving,
Sustaining,
Restoring.
And God saw that it was good.
As you lie here tonight,
You rest in the same love that spun galaxies into motion.
The same care that formed coral reefs.
And wildflowers and sparrows.
Now holds you.
The light from those first stars still travels through space,
Touching your skin tonight.
The same energetic burst of light that resulted from the words,
Let there be light.
Is still arriving here,
Gently,
Faithfully,
Reminding you that his word never fades.
Psalm 36 verse 9 says,
In your light we see light.
And so you can rest you can let your mind grow quiet.
Like a field at night after the rain.
The earth exhales.
You exhale.
Creation and creator,
Breathing as one.
If your thoughts wander.
Let them drift like stars.
Far away,
Yet peaceful.
Let your body grow heavier.
Your breath deeper.
Your soul still.
In this moment,
You are a part of the great story still unfolding.
A story of love.
Of care.
Of endless creativity.
God's work in creation was never hurried.
It was a slow unfolding,
Like the dawn that rises patiently,
Bringing light to all it touches.
And even now,
God continues to create in you,
Around you,
Through you.
As you sleep,
He renews the face of the earth.
Psalm 104 verse 30.
He renews you too.
So rest,
Beloved one.
Let every muscle soften.
Every thought grow lighter.
Feel the nearness of the one who holds galaxies and your heartbeat alike.
He who stretched out the heavens also watches over your dreams.
You are safe.
You are seeing.
You are part of God's creation.
Woven from light.
Sustained by love.
And carried into rest.
Let yourself drift now into that divine stillness.
Where all things are made new.
In peace,
You will lie down and sleep.
For the Lord alone makes you dwell in safety.
And even as you rest.
Creation keeps singing its quiet song of praise.
A melody made up of galaxies and oceans and wind through trees.
Creator is good.
Creation is good.
You are held by God in all this goodness.
Let the words of Genesis 1 wash over you tonight.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth The earth was formless and empty,
And darkness covered the deep waters.
And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.
Then God said,
Let there be light.
And there was light.
And God saw that the light was good.
Then he separated the light from the darkness.
God called the light day and the darkness night.
An evening passed and morning came,
Marking the first day.
Then God said,
Let there be a space between the waters to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth.
And that is what happened.
God made this space to separate the waters of the earth from the waters of the heavens.
God called the space sky.
And evening passed and morning came,
Marking the second day.
Then God said,
Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place,
So dry ground may appear.
And that is what happened.
God called the dry ground land and the waters seas.
And God saw that it was good.
Then God said,
Let the land sprout with vegetation,
Every sort of seed-bearing plant and trees that grow seed-bearing fruit.
These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.
And that is what happened.
The land-produced vegetation,
All sorts of seed-bearing plants and trees with seed-bearing fruit.
Their seeds produced plants and trees of the same kind,
And God saw that it was good.
And evening passed and morning came,
Marking the third day.
Then God said,
Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night.
Let them be signs to mark the seasons,
Days,
And years.
Let these lights in the sky shine down on the earth and that is what happened.
God made two great lights,
The larger one to govern the day and the smaller one to govern the night.
He also made the stars.
God set these lights in the sky to light the earth.
To govern the day and night,
And to separate the light from the darkness.
And God saw that it was good.
And evening passed and morning came,
Marking the fourth day.
Then God said,
Let the waters swarm with fish and other life.
Let the skies be filled with birds of every kind.
So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that scurries and swarms in the water,
And every sort of bird,
Each producing offspring of the same kind,
And God saw that it was good.
Then God blessed them,
Saying,
Be fruitful and multiply.
Let the fish fill the seas,
And let the birds multiply on the earth.
And evening passed and morning came,
Marking the fifth day.
Then God said,
Let the earth produce every sort of animal,
Each producing offspring of the same kind.
Livestock,
Small animals that scurry along the ground,
And wild animals.
And that is what happened.
God made all sorts of wild animals,
Livestock,
And small animals,
Each able to produce offspring of the same kind.
And God saw that it was good.
Then God said,
Let us make human beings in our image to be like us.
They will reign over the fish in the sea,
The birds in the sky,
The livestock,
All the wild animals of the earth,
And the small animals that scurry along the ground.
So God created human beings in his own image.
In the image of God,
He created them.
Male and female he created them.
Then God blessed them and said,
Be fruitful and multiply.
Fill the earth and govern it.
Reign over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and all the animals that scurry along the ground.
Then God said,
Look,
I have given you every seed bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food.
And I have given every green plant as food for all the wild animals,
The birds in the sky,
And the small animals that scurry along the ground.
Everything that has life.
And that is what happened.
Then God looked over all he had made,
And he saw that it was very good.
Stay here as long as you need.
Let sleep come slowly.
Like a light that moves across the horizon.
You are home in God's creation.
You are home in God's peace.
Let yourself rest in this love.
A love that made you.
That holds you,
That is content to simply be with you in this moment.

And that is what happened.
God called the dry ground land and the waters seas.
And God saw that it was good.
Then God said,
Let the land sprout with vegetation,
Every sort of seed-bearing plant and trees that grow seed-bearing fruit.
These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.
And that is what happened.
The land-produced vegetation,
All sorts of seed-bearing plants and trees with seed-bearing fruit.
Their seeds produced plants and trees of the same kind,
And God saw that it was good.
And evening passed and morning came,
Marking the third day.
Then God said,
Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night.
Let them be signs to mark the seasons,
Days,
And years.
Let these lights in the sky shine down on the earth and that is what happened.
God made two great lights,
The larger one to govern the day and the smaller one to govern the night.
He also made the stars.
God set these lights in the sky to light the earth.
To govern the day and night,
And to separate the light from the darkness.
And God saw that it was good.
And evening passed and morning came,
Marking the fourth day.
Then God said,
Let the waters swarm with fish and other life.
Let the skies be filled with birds of every kind.
So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that scurries and swarms in the water,
And every sort of bird,
Each producing offspring of the same kind,
And God saw that it was good.
Then God blessed them,
Saying,
Be fruitful and multiply.
Let the fish fill the seas,
And let the birds multiply on the earth.
And evening passed and morning came,
Marking the fifth day.
Then God said,
Let the earth produce every sort of animal,
Each producing offspring of the same kind.
Livestock,
Small animals that scurry along the ground,
And wild animals.
And that is what happened.
God made all sorts of wild animals,
Livestock,
And small animals,
Each able to produce offspring of the same kind.
And God saw that it was good.
Then God said,
Let us make human beings in our image to be like us.
They will reign over the fish in the sea,
The birds in the sky,
The livestock,
All the wild animals of the earth,
And the small animals that scurry along the ground.
So God created human beings in his own image.
In the image of God,
He created them.
Male and female he created them.
Then God blessed them and said,
Be fruitful and multiply,
Fill the earth and govern it.
Psalm 48 says,
In peace I will lie down and sleep.
For you alone,
O Lord,
Keep me safe.
Let that peace rest over you like a warm blanket.
Now as your body settles.

God-shaped worlds and suns,
Oceans and air,
Mountains that would one day cradle forests and streams,
God did not rush.

Around you,
Through you.
As you sleep,
He renews the face of the earth.
Psalm 104 verse 30.
He renews you too.
So rest,
Beloved ones.
And even as you rest,
Creation keeps singing its quiet song of praise.
Then God blessed them and said,
Be fruitful and multiply,
Fill the earth and govern it.
Psalm 4,
8 says,
In peace I will lie down and sleep.
For you alone,
O Lord,
Keep me safe.
Let that peace rest over you like a warm blanket.
Now as your body settles.
Let your imagination drift back.
Back before your day began.
Before your first breath.
Before there were even stars.
In the beginning,
God was there.
Not in a hurry.
Not in striving.
But imperfect loving stillness.
God-shaped worlds and suns,
Oceans and air,
Mountains that would one day cradle forests and streams,
God did not rush.
Creation unfolded like a song.
Each note layered with wonder.
From molten stone to fertile soil,
The earth took form.
Rain bless the ground.
Seeds stirred awake in the dark.
Roots reached downward.
Green reached upward.
And the breath of God filled it all.
Creator delighted in texture and design.
The softness of moss.
The shimmer of leaves.
The fragrance of cedar and myrrh.
Every living thing,
From the tallest redwood to the smallest blade of grass,
Forming slowly.
Spoken into being by love.
Even the soil beneath our feet,
Alive with unseen life,
Is holy.
It breathes.
It holds memory and promise.
As some of our indigenous brothers and sisters teach us,
The soil is the skin of the earth,
A living body,
A place of communion between all things.
Underneath,
Invisible to the eye,
Life that moves and works.
Sacred network of life below the ground.
Strengthening roots.
Weaving threads of life.
Renewing itself in silence.
Unseen yet essential.
Even there,
God's design at work and play.
Psalm 104 verse 24 whispers,
O Lord,
How manifold are your works!
In wisdom you made them all.
The seas shimmered with movement,
Glimmering schools of fish,
Gentle giants gliding through the deep.
Coral form to cathedrals of color.
Where light filtered like stained glass.
Each drop of water sacred and precious.
Waves carrying rhythms,
Oceans making melodies.
God's Spirit moving over the face of the deep.
From the heights of the sky to the depths of the sea,
Life unfolded in every form.
Winged and finned,
Rooted and roaming.
Each bearing the Creator's delight.
Life unfolded through God's steady intention.
Each creature a reflection of divine imagination.
A symphony of the whole of creation.
A harmony of existence that glorifies the One who made them.
Genesis 2 verse 7 says Then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life.
Humanity.
Fashioned from the dust.
Animated by the breath of God.
Not separate from creation,
But woven from it.
The elements once forged in the stars lives on in you.
The same matter that once shone in distant galaxies now forms your body.
Your breath.
Your heartbeat.
All awakened by the Spirit of God's love.
God's breath in you now,
Filling in.
And pouring out.
Peace,
Life,
And rest.
Every breath you take is part of that ancient rhythm,
The same spirit moving,
Sustaining,
Restoring.
And God saw that it was good.
As you lie here tonight,
You rest in the same love that spun galaxies into motion.
The same care that formed coral reefs.
And wildflowers and sparrows.
Now holds you.
The light from those first stars still travels through space,
Touching your skin tonight.
The same energetic burst of light that resulted from the words,
Let there be light.
Is still arriving here,
Gently,
Faithfully,
Reminding you that his word never fades.
Psalm 36 verse 9 says,
In your light we see light.
And so you can rest you can let your mind grow quiet.
Like a field at night after the rain.
The earth exhales.
You exhale.
Creation and creator,
Breathing as one.
If your thoughts wander.
Let them drift like stars.
Far away,
Yet peaceful.
Let your body grow heavier.
Your breath deeper.
Your soul still.
In this moment,
You are a part of the great story still unfolding.
A story of love.
Of care.
Of endless creativity.
God's work in creation was never hurried.
It was a slow unfolding,
Like the dawn that rises patiently,
Bringing light to all it touches.
And even now,
God continues to create in you,
Around you,
Through you.
As you sleep,
He renews the face of the earth.
Psalm 104 verse 30.

God's breath in you now.
Filling in.
And pouring out.
Peace,
Life,
And rest.
Every breath you take is part of that ancient rhythm.
The same spirit moving,
Sustaining.
And so you can rest.
You can let your mind grow quiet.
Like a field at night after the rain.
The earth exhales.
You exhale.
Creation and creator,
Breathing as one.
If your thoughts wander.
Let them drift like stars.
Far away,
Yet peaceful.
Let your body grow heavier.
Your breath deeper.
Your soul still.
In this moment,
You are a part of the great story still unfolding.
A story of love.
Of care.
Of endless creativity.
God's work in creation was never hurried.
It was a slow unfolding,
Like the dawn that rises patiently,
Bringing light to all it touches.
And even now,
God continues to create in you,
Around you,
Through you.
As you sleep,
He renews the face of the earth.
Psalm 104 verse 30.
He renews you too.
So rest,
Beloved ones.
Then God blessed them and said,
Be fruitful and multiply,
Fill the earth and govern it.
