Day after day they continue to speak.
Night after night they make him known.
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you,
O Lord,
My rock and my redeemer.
The Lord is my banner.
His faithful love endures forever.
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
This I declare about the Lord.
He alone is my refuge,
My place of safety.
He is my God and I trust him.
No evil will conquer you.
No plague will come near your home.
For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.
You will trample upon lions and cobras.
You will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet.
Your throne,
O Lord,
Has stood forever.
You yourself are from the everlasting past.
But the Lord is king forever.
He will rule from generation to generation.
The Lord is righteous.
He loves justice.
The virtuous will see his face.
The instructions of the Lord are perfect,
Reviving the soul.
The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy,
Making wise the simple.
The Lord directs the steps of the godly.
He delights in every detail of their lives.
Though they stumble,
They will never fall.
For the Lord holds them by the hand.
The Lord gives his people strength.
The Lord blesses them with peace.
How kind the Lord is.
How good he is.
So merciful this God of ours.
Return to your rest,
My soul.
For the Lord has been good to you.
This is the day that the Lord has made.
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
You are my refuge and my shield.
Your word is my source of hope.
Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning.
For I am trusting you.
Show me where to walk.
For I give myself to you.
Now,
Let your heart be still.
Let the word you've just heard echo softly in the quiet of your soul.
Not every scripture needs to be understood in full tonight.
Some are simply meant to be felt.
Like a warm hand holding yours.
A whisper in the dark reminding you,
You are loved.
You are seen.
You are safe.
Let your mind begin to slow down.
Trusting that God's word has found its home within you.
Let's pray together as we drift toward deeper rest.
God,
Thank you for this sacred space.
Thank you for your word that steadies us,
Comforts us,
And wraps us in peace.
Let every verse settle into the places in us that need it most.
Our fears,
Our longings,
Our weariness.
Teach us to rest in your promises.
To trust that you are watching over us,
Even as we sleep.
Let your love be the last thing we feel tonight.
And your presence the first thing we notice when we wake.
In the name of Jesus,
Our Good Shepherd.
