Today we open up a conversation with our souls.
Today we open up our voices.
Today we connect to our truth.
Bring your awareness to your throat and your shoulders,
Your neck.
And whichever position you've chosen to settle,
Allow there to be a softness here.
Allow the shoulders to gently draw away from your ears.
Take a few swallows and soften through your neck and your throat.
We play many different roles in our lives and sometimes our voice has to change.
We may have to control our words or change what we're saying or fit around someone else's beliefs or ideas.
In this practice,
Let us heal our voices.
Let us connect to our truth.
Let us express our beautiful and weird and wonderful thoughts and ideas.
And most importantly,
Let us speak kindly,
Beginning with ourselves and those around us.
Breathe deeply through your nose and exhale softly.
When we connect to our Vishuddha chakra,
Our throat chakra,
We connect to the energy of sound and vibration.
Notice now in this moment the vibrations that might be happening very subtly in your body.
For there are so many sounds going on inside your body in every moment.
The gentle drumbeat of your heart,
The sound of your breath,
The sound of your blood moving around the body,
The creaks and cracks of the bones and the ligaments,
A little orchestra within you creating this rhythm of life.
Be open to receive that gentle hum within you.
Set an intention for this practice,
Whether it's to be able to express yourself more clearly.
Maybe you want to release blockages in how you communicate.
Maybe you want to connect more deeply to your truth and authentic voice.
Maybe you want to learn how to speak more kindly to yourself with love and compassion,
Letting go of the criticism and inviting in the compliments.
You may silently say to yourself,
If these words resonate with you,
I open my throat to speak my truth.
I express myself freely.
I speak to myself kindly.
Feel your intention with every breath settling into your heart and your throat center,
Allowing it to grow with each inhale and exhale,
Creating a space for clear and honest communication,
Expression and truth.
The mantra for the throat chakra is HAM.
H-A-M,
HAM.
This vibration resonates with sound and communication and the power of your voice.
So as you inhale,
Repeat HAM and as you exhale,
HAM.
Inhale HAM.
Exhale HAM.
Inhale HAM.
Exhale HAM.
When you work with this point,
You may feel like you need to swallow a little bit or even adjust your throat.
It's quite a natural response when connecting to this powerful energy.
See these reactions as if clearing your throat,
Literally clearing your throat,
Making space to speak.
You may even feel that you want to create some sound with your mantra.
You may feel like you want to whisper it,
Create more of a vibration in your throat.
You may want to sing it gently,
Out loud or internal.
HAM,
HAM.
And it may become really long,
Like an OM that you might be familiar with.
HAM.
Internally it may become loud in your head,
It may be softer.
With every repetition of your mantra,
Feel energy rising up through you as if it's being pulled up from the earth to your throat center.
Feel the strength of truth and expression rising up through your body,
Lovingly flowing up from the earth to your throat.
It's natural to feel like you need to clear your throat,
To swallow,
To cough.
For many of us,
Our voices have been restricted.
We've been told that we can't say this and we can't say that.
Our voices haven't been honored or respected.
Our words have been dismissed or ignored.
And now is the time to ignite your voice,
To give it an energetic microphone so it can be heard,
Listened,
Respected,
Honored.
Inhale HAM,
Exhale HAM.
With each repetition of HAM,
Feel the sound deepen and the energy strengthen.
Feel the vibrations expanding throughout the body,
Like sending ripples or waves of healing energy to your throat,
Your neck,
Your mouth,
Your shoulders.
The energy of the throat chakra is represented by the color blue.
As you chant,
Visualize the blue light filling the space around your throat,
The color of the sky,
The color of clear and open communication.
See this blue light growing brighter and brighter with every chant,
Expanding outwards from your body.
It is strong,
Yet it is calm and clear,
Like the most perfect blue sky.
Feel your throat center opening,
Just like a flower blooming.
Each petal that opens representing your ability to speak with authenticity and clarity.
Allow your voice to be heard.
Feel a sense of unblocking happening around your throat,
An opening,
New beginnings for your voice to be heard,
Your creativity to flow,
Your truth to be expressed.
For a moment now,
Visualize yourself standing tall out in nature,
Just like a tree,
Rooted down strong and the top of your body rising up,
Just like the branches of a tree.
Your throat center wide open,
Receiving both the earth energy below you and the divine guidance from above.
Feel the energy of the earth flowing up through your feet,
Legs and into your body and settling into the throat with a vibrant healing pulse.
And feeling the energy flowing down from the universe above,
From the sky above you through the top of your head,
Emerging with the energy from the earth,
Creating a balanced and clear channel of truth.
In this moment,
Know now that your words,
Your thoughts and emotions are becoming clear,
Obvious.
There is no denying your truth.
From this moment as you move forward,
Know that you can speak your truth with love and with clarity,
Without any inhibition.
Notice how your throat feels,
How your jaw feels.
Is there a resistance in the body to truly open up and speak your truth?
As you physically soften your throat and your jaw and your shoulders,
Hold the intention that you are energetically opening up.
A loving invitation for you,
Your soul,
To speak up.
And in this moment,
If there is a truth that needs to come from you,
Whether it's to someone else,
Or to yourself,
How would it feel right now to speak your truth?
Drop back into your mantra for a moment.
Notice how loud or quiet it is,
How the vibrations feel,
How your throat feels.
And just like a mantra that brings with it positive and healing vibrations,
Every word and every thought that we have or share is a vibration too.
To close our practice,
Let's give ourselves the gift of filling our mind,
Our body,
Our thoughts,
Our energetic space with loving words,
With kind words,
With beautiful and creative words and thoughts.
Because they too are like mantras,
Lifting the vibration,
Healing,
Soothing,
And balancing.
And you can begin this practice right now.
Say to yourself some loving,
Kind words,
Maybe something that you love about yourself,
Or maybe it's something that other people say to you that they love about you.
Taking a deep breath,
Inhaling clarity and truth,
And exhaling peace and balance.
Inhaling ham,
And exhaling ham,
Making it as loud and as strong as you need the mantra to be.
And then start to reduce the sounds until it becomes silent within.
I invite you to trust the power of your words and your thoughts.
And every time you catch yourself speaking unkindly to yourself,
Smile,
Remember these words,
And turn that energy around and share loving kindness with your beautiful souls and bodies and minds.
Take one last inhalation,
Hearing the sound of your breath coming in,
Listening to the sound of the breath as it comes out.
Namaste.
