Hi there,
My name is Shanae and I'm an Intuitive Business Mentor.
I'm going to be guiding you through this short practice to support you in preparing to potentially receive critical feedback.
If you have an upcoming performance review,
Or a meeting with a supervisor or a manager,
This practice will guide you and support you in preparing yourself to receive that feedback with grace,
Openness and humility.
First of all,
Find yourself a comfortable seat where you won't be disturbed.
If it is safe for you to do so,
Close down your eyes.
Take a couple of deep breaths,
Breathe in through your nose,
Fill your belly,
Out through the mouth with a sigh,
And continue that breath until the end of our few minutes together.
This breath will support you in the lead up to your meeting.
Let's set the intention now,
That the feedback is delivered in a way that is constructive,
In a way that will support you to grow and improve your skills.
Know that when constructive feedback is offered,
It is always with the intention of improving.
If you take this as an opportunity to improve yourself,
Not only will you be the demonstration of humility,
But you'll also be able to illustrate that you are okay and very capable to receive feedback,
Implement it,
And make yourself even more valuable.
Whilst the temptation might be to tense your body,
Bracing for impact,
I encourage you to breathe and relax.
If you can find a way to receive critical feedback with an optimistic heart,
You'll set yourself up for future success.
I want nothing but greatness for you,
And I hope you want that too.
And often,
Greatness comes with humility,
And I know you've got it in you.
Take a deep breath and do your best.
That is all anyone could ever ask for.
