Hello,

I'm Keri Letton of Firefly Community.

Welcome to this guided meditation of the seven chakras.

From a metaphysical perspective,

There are seven regions of the body that need to be constantly revitalized with universal energy to maintain optimal wellness.

These same seven areas also correspond to seven major endocrine glands.

This mental imagery exercise brings to mind these seven areas and the colors associated with them.

Each area is represented as a circular window through which energy passes.

This window goes by the name of chakra.

Chakra translates from Sanskrit as wheel.

You may have heard this term or heard people talk about unblocking the chakras.

Chakras are the main energy centers located along the spine.

You can think of them as wheels of energy.

When we unblock the chakras,

It allows energy to flow freely and for us to feel balanced in body,

Mind,

And spirit.

With each color,

There is a series of meditational phrases that can be repeated to yourself as you visualize the image.

When first learning this exercise,

It's best to try this lying down if possible.

However,

You can also be seated in a chair with your feet flat on the floor or seated cross-legged on the floor if you prefer.

Take whatever position is most comfortable for you.

As with any guided mental imagery exercise,

Feel free to modify my suggestions to strengthen the image for you.

For example,

You may picture glasses filled with different colored water,

Different colored flowers,

Or even fruit.

Take what works for you and leave anything that doesn't resonate with you.

Let's start with taking a few long deep breaths in through the nose and out of your mouth.

Let go of anything that is taking your focus out of this moment.

Let go of your day so far and arrive in your body in the present moment.

You can continue to breathe in through the nose and either out of your mouth or out through your nose,

Whatever allows you to feel the most relaxed.

We'll start with the root chakra located at the base of the head.

We'll start with the root chakra located at the base of the spine,

Which is associated with our feelings of being grounded,

Stable,

And that we have all the things that we need.

If you're out of balance or feeling stuck in this chakra,

You may feel threatened or unstable.

The Sanskrit name of this chakra is muladhara and the color associated with the root chakra is red.

The element is earth.

Imagine a beam of light emanating from the base of your spine,

A laser beam of red light.

This area and the color are metaphorical symbols representing you're being grounded to the earth.

To be grounded means to feel stable and securely rooted in your environment,

Both physically and emotionally.

Take a slow deep breath and as you exhale,

See this beam of red light and say this phrase to yourself.

I feel grounded.

Take another deep breath and repeat this phrase again.

I feel grounded.

One more time.

Take a deep breath in and repeat the phrase.

I feel grounded.

Next,

We'll move to the second chakra,

The sacral chakra,

Swadhisthana.

This one is associated with pain and pleasure,

Sensuality and sexuality,

And also creativity.

If you're blocked here,

You may feel a lack of control over your life.

The location of this chakra is two inches below the belly button.

The color associated with the second chakra is orange and the element is water.

Focus your attention on the center of your body,

A point that is approximately two inches below your navel.

This area of your body represents both the literal and figurative center of your body.

To become centered means to focus inward and to maintain a personal balance.

Imagine that from this point emanates an orange beam of light outward toward infinity.

Take a slow,

Deep breath.

And as you exhale,

See this beam of orange light and say this phrase to yourself.

I deserve pleasure in my life.

Take another deep breath in and repeat the phrase.

I deserve pleasure in my life.

Pleasure in my life.

Take one more deep breath and repeat this phrase again.

I deserve pleasure in my life.

Now bring your awareness to your stomach,

An area referred to as the solar plexus.

The Sanskrit name for the third chakra is Manipura,

Which translates to place of many riches.

The color associated with this chakra is yellow and the element is fire.

This chakra is associated with our personal power.

When you feel balanced,

You're able to show up as your authentic self.

If your solar plexus is blocked,

You may have trouble with self-esteem,

Self-confidence,

Or you may experience self-doubt.

Think what it is like to have a strong sense of self-confidence and self-esteem.

Now take a slow,

Deep breath.

And as you exhale,

See a beam of yellow light and say this phrase to yourself.

I have confidence.

Take another deep breath in and repeat.

I have confidence.

One more time,

Deep breath in.

And as you exhale,

I have confidence.

We move now to the fourth chakra,

Located at the center of the upper chest.

The color associated with Anahata,

The fourth chakra,

Is green and the element is air.

The upper chest houses the heart,

Perhaps the most important organ in the body.

The heart chakra is the bridge between the lower three chakras and the upper three.

The heart is symbolic of the emotion of love,

For it is through the heart that we share compassion with our fellow human beings and creatures of the planet,

And even with the planet itself.

When we're balanced in the heart chakra,

We have the ability to express love,

Love from family and friends and all elements of the universe.

Like a window,

The metaphorical heart can be opened to share love,

Or it can be closed.

The latter is often compared to a hardened heart.

Open the window of your heart and imagine an emerald green beam of light shining forth.

This region of your body in this color represent your ability to share your feelings of warmth,

Happiness,

Compassion,

And those aspects that comprise the emotion of love.

Take a slow,

Deep breath in.

And as you exhale,

Focus on this color green and say to yourself,

I choose love.

I choose love.

Inhale again.

And as you exhale,

I choose love.

One more deep breath in.

On your exhale,

I choose love.

Next,

We'll move to the fifth chakra,

Vishuddha,

Located at the throat.

Associated with the color blue and the element ether.

Bring your attention to your throat.

Imagine a soft blue beam of light emanating from your throat and extending toward infinity.

This area and this color represent the containing of opposites,

Communication,

Self-expression,

Finding one's voice,

And your meaningful purpose in life or your life mission.

When we're blocked in the throat chakra,

We might have trouble expressing who we are,

Our authentic self,

Or have trouble communicating clearly.

For a moment,

Ponder what is meaningful for you right now.

It could be very general yet profound,

Or it may be a short-term goal you wish to accomplish.

Think of the willpower and the drive necessary to accomplish your mission.

Know that you have this resource within you.

Focus on this mission,

And at the same time,

Focus on the color blue.

Take a slow,

Deep breath in.

And as you exhale,

Repeat this phrase.

I have a meaningful purpose to my life.

Take a deep breath in.

And repeat on your exhale,

I have a meaningful purpose to my life.

And as you exhale,

Repeat on your exhale,

I have a meaningful purpose to my life.

One more deep breath in.

Exhale,

I have a meaningful purpose to my life.

Now bring your attention to the center of your forehead,

Or space between your eyebrows.

The color associated with this chakra is violet.

It is this area which symbolizes wisdom,

Clarity,

And intuition.

More clearly,

It symbolizes wisdom from the balance between the right and left hemispheres of the brain and the conscious and unconscious minds.

The ability to access all mental faculties.

This is our ability to connect with our intuition,

Also our connection with our dreams and visions.

So when we're open in this chakra,

We're able to see the big picture and tap into intuition.

Focus your attention on this area,

Just above your nose,

In between your eyebrows.

Using your imagination,

See the color violet emanate as a laser beam of light shooting straight toward infinity.

As you see this color,

Think of your ability to balance your thinking skills to access your deepest wisdom.

Take a slow,

Deep breath.

And as you exhale,

Repeat the phrase,

I am open to the wisdom within.

Take another deep breath in.

On your exhale,

I am open to the wisdom within.

One more time,

Inhale.

On your exhale,

Repeat,

I am open to the wisdom within.

Finally,

Bring your focus to the crown of your head,

The seventh chakra,

Sahasrara,

Represented by white light.

This area represents our connection to a higher consciousness.

I also like to think of this as our connection with everything else in the universe,

All other beings.

It's hard to access,

And we may not access this very often,

But when we are open in the crown chakra,

We're able to connect to that higher consciousness.

From the crown of your head,

Imagine a beam of light.

Regardless of what you're thinking,

Imagine a beam of light.

Regardless of which position your head is resting,

This beam of light always directs itself upward toward the heavens.

This chakra,

As represented in the Renaissance period,

Was depicted as a halo over the head.

This body region and the light associated with it represent your connection to the divine consciousness of the universe.

To feel connected is a very important aspect of one's well-being.

Focus on this light and think what it is like to feel a sense of connectedness and belonging.

To be aware of this connection is to feel at one with the universe,

To feel at peace with yourself.

Take a slow,

Deep breath,

And as you exhale,

Visualize this light and say to yourself a phrase that reinforces a feeling of connectedness.

It might be something like,

I am one with the world.

Or,

Divinity resides within me.

Choose the phrase that resonates most with you.

Take another inhale breath,

And repeat your chosen phrase.

One more big inhale,

And as you exhale,

Repeat your phrase.

Finally,

Allow all of these beams of light to grow in all directions so that soon they all merge together,

And you find yourself surrounded by a ball of brilliant white light.

From this place of feeling centered and in balance,

Take a few more deep,

Slow breaths.

Now slowly allow this image to fade from your mind's eye,

But retain the sense of tranquility it inspired.

When you feel ready,

You can blink open your eyes to a soft gaze in front of you,

And as you do,

Retain a sense of calm and comfort throughout your mind,

Body,

And spirit.

Begin to make yourself aware of your body.

Stretch your arms and shoulders,

Wiggle your fingers and your toes.

Make yourself aware of your surroundings,

The room,

The building,

And the time of day.

Notice how you feel.

Do you feel rested and rejuvenated,

Maybe relaxed,

Or a little more at peace?

I hope you enjoyed this meditation.

Thank you for joining me.

Have a wonderful day.
