My name is Kari Grossman and I'm so happy to be here to share this mantra practice with you.
If you're unfamiliar with mantras,
Essentially they're sacred sound formulas that can help to awaken the love within us.
Mantras can be sung or spoken,
And they can also be whispered or repeated silently in the mind.
There are many different ways to use them,
Depending on the intention and the goal.
Today,
I'd like to share a beautiful mantra with you from the Kundalini Yoga tradition.
This mantra is sometimes known as the Siri Gayatri Mantra,
Or Ramadasa,
Specifically used for healing.
The mantra is composed of eight sounds,
Ra,
Ma,
Da,
Sa,
Sa,
Se,
So,
Hang.
Each sound resonates with a particular essence and vibration.
For instance,
Ra is the sun,
Which connects us to the frequency that gives us energy.
Ma is the moon,
Which aligns us with receptivity.
Da is the earth,
Which grounds us.
And Sa is infinity,
Which lifts us up and attunes us to the healing energy of the universe.
So,
This mantra taps into the energies of the sun,
The moon,
The earth and infinite spirit to bring deep healing.
You can sing this mantra for your own healing,
And you can even couple it with visualization,
And imagine that as you sing the sounds,
You're immersed in a golden light that permeates every cell.
Or simply imagine yourself happy,
Healthy and at peace.
You can do the same thing for another person,
And send this healing song to them.
Imagine the other person happy and well,
And send them love from your heart as you listen or sing the chant.
Another wonderful way to use this mantra is for the earth.
As you listen or sing,
You can send this healing vibration to the earth and imagine the entire creation full of harmony and peace.
Neuroscience has shown that when we visualize something,
Our brain's visual cortex responds as if it's actually happening.
This means that when we focus on positive images,
We reduce stress and anxiety,
Boost our immune system and rejuvenate our being.
And when our thoughts and intentions are coupled with the pure energy of mantra,
Their power is significantly amplified.
So find a comfortable position,
Either seated or lying down,
And allow yourself to become relaxed and receptive.
When the mantra begins,
You can either listen or chant along.
Just allow yourself to become immersed in the music.
And when your mind wanders,
Which is completely natural,
Just bring it back to the sounds.
When the chant finishes,
You might want to spend a few minutes in silence and allow the vibrations to sink deep into your being,
And then carry that energy with you throughout your day.
So be fully here and open to the beauty of this ancient mantra that joins the energies of earth and ether for the highest healing.
