In this meditation, we'll be connecting to our mortality as a way of connecting to our best self. It can be scary but also inspiring. When we learn to contemplate death, we learn to celebrate life on a whole different plane. Pre-requisite: Nothing but your openness and imagination. Much love & gratitude, Canel

Welcome,

My fellow being.

I am Janelle Tai and I will be guiding you through today's meditation,

Unlocking Wisdom of Your Last Walk.

Connecting to our mortality can be scary,

But it can also be inspiring.

It's a way of connecting to our best self,

Connecting to the impermanence of all there is.

It helps us to find peace in the life that we've been given right here,

Right now,

And make it a fulfilling one.

I invite you now to find a comfortable seat and a space within and around you where you can be at peace,

Where you can surrender and fully reconnect to yourself.

Please make sure that any notifications on your phone are turned off.

Please note that you will not be able to turn off your thoughts.

You will be experiencing thoughts of the past and future,

Trying to pull you away from the present moment.

It's like you're time traveling.

It's simply part of the meditation process.

The art of it is to become aware of it and gently,

Non-judgmentally bring your attention back to the now.

You can do this either by coming back to your breath,

My voice,

Or a bodily sensation you might be experiencing in the moment.

Becoming non-judgmentally aware that your thoughts distracted you from the here and now allows you to effortlessly re-enter the doorway to presence.

Now that being said,

Take one big breath and on your exhale let go of all the stress and things that don't serve you right now.

Let's do this together.

Inhale through the nose,

Exhale through the mouth,

Letting it all go.

Now I invite you to place your hands into Chin Mudra.

For this you let your thumb and index finger touch.

With every breath we take,

We'll move the thumb further down one finger.

So,

Breath one,

Thumb and index finger touch,

Breath two,

Thumb and middle finger touch,

And so on.

We will do a couple of rounds of this.

Focus on your breath and the touch of your fingers.

If you like,

You can also send the breath to parts of your body that may experience some discomfort in this moment.

If you haven't done so already,

Close your eyes and let's begin.

Inhale,

Thumb and index finger touch.

Exhale.

Breath two,

Thumb and middle finger touch.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Exhale.

Breath three,

Thumb and ring finger touch.

Inhale.

And exhale.

Breath four,

Thumb and pinky touch.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Breath five,

Thumb and index finger touch again.

Inhale.

And exhale.

I let you do this in your own rhythm for a couple of rounds now.

Return to your normal breathing pattern.

Now I'd like you to visualize your walking up a mountain.

You're walking on a path surrounded by trees of all shapes and sizes.

Some are small,

Some are tall,

Some are thin,

Some are chubby,

Some are light and some are dark,

Some are young and some are old.

And your walk is accompanied by the blue sky's hello and the sun's smile.

It's a beautiful day,

You think to yourself,

Feeling a sense of ease and peace within you.

Feel your feet walking on the path and feel the sun and the wind touching your skin.

Feel the air in your lungs and feel the smile on your lips.

You're happy,

Fulfilled,

Content with your life.

As you reach the mountain top,

You realize that this is your last walk,

The last stop on your journey and the last moments of your breath.

This mountain top is your deathbed but you're not alone.

You hear people cheering and clapping for you in the distance.

They're walking towards you with a bright smile and you notice that all of your loved ones have gathered here today to celebrate you,

To celebrate the last moments of your epic life.

Oh,

And what a life you have lived,

Full of love,

Joy,

Laughter,

Passion and purpose.

They are all here for you and really feel the love,

Feel it with every fiber of your being.

As a tribute to you,

They ask you to look down from the mountain to take the bird's eye view onto the sea.

Surrounded by your loved ones,

You see your entire life reflected as a movie on the sea.

What can you see?

What can you hear?

And what can you feel?

How have you been treating yourself and others?

How have you used your pain and turned it into purpose?

How have you used your pain and turned it into purpose?

What are your gifts and talents and how have you been putting them to the service of others?

What is the legacy you leave behind?

As the movie ends,

Every single one of your loved ones comes up to you,

Hugging you,

Thanking you for having had the courage to be yourself in a world that wants you to be someone else.

And every single one of them whispers a message into your ear.

What are they saying about your character,

About your gifts,

About your mind and about your heart?

See and feel their love for you with your entire being.

And as you feel the gratitude that they hold for you,

Surrender into the gratitude for your life.

Surrender into your breath.

Focus on your breath and simply breathe.

As the wind is swaying through the trees,

Notice that everything in this universe is undergoing a constant metamorphosis from the trees to the mountains,

The sea,

Animals,

Including us human beings.

Every single one of us comes into this world on an inhale and leaves it on an exhale.

Life is about the breaths in between.

It's about breathing fully,

Wholeheartedly.

It's about those times in which our breath isn't constricted by wanting to be right or having won a competition.

But it's about being expansive,

Inclusive,

Loving,

Kind and compassionate towards ourselves and our loved ones.

It's about celebrating the breaths of life,

Breaths we've been given right here,

Right now.

Now,

Let's take one final breath together.

Inhale and exhale.

And when you're ready,

Slowly open your eyes and come back into the room and pay gratitude to your being.

Namaste.
