When we're children,
We sometimes lie on the ground and simply look up into the sky and watch the clouds drift on by.
In this visualization today,
We're going to do something similar.
We're going to imagine that the clouds are our thoughts and that we can just let them drift on by and that we choose how much attention we give them and how easily we let them pass.
Let's do this together.
Go ahead and close your eyes as we visualize the thoughts as the clouds in the sky.
Taking a deep breath in here,
Letting that breath flow all the way down through your chest and into your belly.
Notice how the belly is expanding and then dropping back down.
A deep breath to center yourself and allowing the breath to flow in and out of the nose.
Letting the body relax a little further with every opera.
Imagining just leaning back into relaxation as if you're lying on the ground observing the sky above you.
Noticing the clouds.
Noticing the color of the sky.
I'd like you to imagine now the clouds in the sky are representing your thoughts as they drift on by.
Being the observer of your own thoughts now.
Observing your thoughts just the way you're observing the clouds in the sky.
Remembering that you are so much more than your thoughts and feelings.
You may notice that the clouds are different shapes,
Maybe some are darker than others.
Just letting go of whatever thoughts are no longer needed that has been occupying your mind.
Taking up space in your mind.
Just let them float on by as you let go,
Watching those clouds drift on by.
If you notice another thought lingering in your mind that you want to release and let go of.
Just stick it on one of those clouds and let that go too.
Watch it just drift on by.
Watching how the clouds are constantly changing and moving.
Notice how you don't need to reach out and touch any of those clouds.
Just like you don't need to interact with every thought that enters your mind.
You can just observe them from here,
One with your breath.
Just let them be where they are as they move on by.
You catch yourself thinking.
Take that thought on the cloud and let it go.
When you're ready,
Take a deep breath in and come back and open your eyes.
Thank you for meditating with me today.
