Welcome.
This is a meditation entitled Just Being and it was written by Maggie Mullins,
A founding member of Kaluzahatchee Mindfulness.
Kaluzahatchee is a Kaluza Native American word for river.
Kaluzahatchee is the river in Southwest Florida that our organization is named after.
I invite you to sit comfortably with your back tall,
Straight,
But not stiff.
Try resting your hands in your lap comfortably.
I invite you to sit comfortably with your back tall,
Straight,
But not stiff.
Try resting your hands in your lap comfortably.
You can allow your eyes to close or let your gaze become unfocused.
And let your eyes become focused.
Try resting your hands in your lap and let the sound of the bells carry you into your breath.
Allow yourself to relax and feel the presence and power of your body.
Become aware of the flow of your breath coming in and out of your body.
Try focusing your attention on your belly and how it moves as your breath comes in and goes out.
See if you can be with it for the entire time.
The entire duration of a breath.
Dwelling in stillness and not looking for anything special to happen.
Just experiencing the moment just as it is.
As you notice a thought,
Gently bring your mind back to the present and just let that go.
Bringing the mind back to the present is as much a part of meditating as noticing the breath.
Simply being here,
Sitting,
Not trying to get somewhere else.
Enter into the silence and the stillness.
Always coming back to this moment and this moment and this moment.
Always coming back to this moment and this moment and this moment just as it is.
This moment,
This breath,
Let go.
Do you know where your mind is at this moment?
Is it on the breath?
If not,
Where is it?
Can you commit to letting go and then coming back to the breath?
There is patience here.
Bathe in the silence.
Breathe in the stillness.
Let the rest of the world unfold and do whatever it is doing and here you are just being.
Being still with things being just as they are right now without expecting things to be any other way.
This breath,
This moment.
Wisdom,
Balance,
Inter-strength.
Push nothing away.
Pursue nothing.
Not planning,
Not preparing.
Just being here now.
Just the breath.
The breath in,
The breath out.
This moment now.
Knowing where your mind is,
Knowing where you are.
Letting go of the past,
Letting go of the future,
Just here in this moment.
Now try to expand the field of your awareness of your body as a whole.
Feeling your body on your seat.
Feeling the entire body sitting here breathing.
And take a deep breath.
And when you're ready you can open your eyes.
Thank you for being present.
