Hi,
It's Brooks.
Thanks for joining me.
Today we're gonna talk about how great it is to be alive.
I know that sounds kind of funny,
Right?
Like,
What do you mean?
To be alive?
Like I'm alive,
You know?
But it's quite wonderful to be alive.
I mean,
When we take a deeper look at it,
There's a vitality here in us.
There's this life force that's present.
And if it wasn't there,
We wouldn't be experiencing anything.
We'd be gone.
So there's this life force that allows us to experience life through these bodies.
There's something really basic about that,
Being alive.
I'm alive.
You can notice that right now.
Just put your hand on your stomach.
And you breathe in,
You breathe out.
You breathe in,
You breathe out.
And that's life.
There's breath coming into your body.
And the body releases the breath and takes in breath again.
It's a real example of the life force.
A tangible taste,
You know?
There's breath moving in and out of me.
That must mean I'm alive.
And life must really love me.
Life really must care about me to continue giving me this breath,
This breath of life.
So not only am I lucky to be alive,
I'm blessed that the life force keeps coming into me,
Staying with me.
It's present in me right now.
If I stop breathing,
That's it.
There's no more life force.
So it's quite wonderful that life is breathing me and giving me the experience of life itself.
Maybe I'm not separate from life.
Maybe I'm not separate from life.
Maybe I'm not separate from life.
Maybe I'm a part of life.
Maybe I'm more than just this body and these thoughts and these emotions.
Perhaps I'm life itself.
So we could be reminded with our breath.
You can put your hand on your heart.
And you can feel that pulse,
The heart beating.
And it's a reminder of this,
The presence of life.
And that's what we're going to do.
Of this,
The presence of life.
It's a beautiful reminder.
Life is pumping my heart.
I'm not doing it.
If my heart stopped beating,
That would be it.
There'd be no more me.
There'd be no more experience.
It's like that song from the musical Hera.
I don't know if you've ever heard it,
But it's called I Got Life.
So you've got life.
It's the best present you could get.
Of all the things you could ever receive.
You're lucky to receive the greatest present that exists.
And you can see it in,
You can be reminded of it,
You can see it in your breath or in your heartbeat.
Or that you're aware right now.
You're aware of my words.
You can hear me talking.
And if you're aware,
You're alive.
You exist.
And since existence,
Since awareness is the thing that stays with you through your whole life,
I mean your body changes,
Your circumstances change,
But your awareness is constantly present.
And maybe that's what you really are.
It uses the one thing that you have through your entire life.
So you're aware of life.
So you're aware of life.
Maybe your life,
Maybe your life itself then.
Because it's always with you.
Something that never changes,
Something that's constant,
Is true.
Things that come and go,
They're not us.
Even though sometimes we feel like they are,
We feel like our body is us,
Or we feel like the things we think about are us,
Are things we feel.
But those things are constantly changing.
So the one thing that stays the same,
As long as we're alive,
Is life.
The life in us,
The life force.
And that's how we know we're loved.
And that's how we know we're beautiful and wonderful.
Because these are qualities of life.
These are essential qualities of life.
So it's wonderful to be alive.
And it's nice to be alive.
And it's nice to remember that.
And the things that are the most simple,
Are the things that go unnoticed.
Sometimes we think,
Oh if I just get this thing,
Then I'm going to be okay.
But just get whatever,
Fill in the blank,
Then I'll be fulfilled.
If I get enlightened,
If I can become more generous,
If I can become more wealthy,
Or find the right person,
Then I'm going to be okay.
But I'd like you to consider the fact that you're alive,
And that you're experiencing,
And that you have a breath,
And that you're heart beating,
Your heart's beating,
Then you're okay.
You're okay.
You're fulfilled.
Anything we achieve,
Anything we get in life,
Again it's a temporary experience,
It's there and then we acclimate to it.
We get used to it.
So then it becomes a normal part of our life.
Or that thing that comes into our life,
It's there for a certain period and we lose it,
Or it breaks,
Or it's stolen,
Or it's gone.
So things come and go.
Well again what doesn't come and go,
Is that we're alive,
And that we exist.
And that we exist.
And that's why we're lucky to be alive.
Thanks for joining me.
Take care.
Bye.
