Hi,
It's Brooks.
Thanks for joining me.
It's good to be here with you.
Today we're going to talk about how decluttering is an act of love.
When you stop and you take a look around at your life,
You know,
With that curious eye,
And you're looking around and you're asking yourself,
Is there anything here that's hurting me?
Is there anything that doesn't fit my life?
And you're asking about tangible things.
You're asking about activities.
You're asking about your relationships with other people.
You're looking to see,
Is there anything in my life that's hurting me,
That's clutter?
When you do this,
It's an act of love.
Because you care about yourself.
You want to feel better.
You want to remove anything that gets in the way of you feeling better.
So you put yourself first when you ask this question.
And you're basically saying,
Things have to prove their worth to me.
They have to prove that they're good for me.
Or they gotta go.
Because your compassion is for yourself rather than for the things in your life.
That's the great thing about decluttering.
Every time you ask that question,
You're asking your heart,
How does this make me feel?
How does this thing affect me?
And you're not asking anybody else.
You're asking yourself.
And you're asking your heart.
Does this thing feel good in my life?
Or is it hurting me in some way?
And you ask because you care.
So every time you ask,
You reconnect with yourself.
You increase that bond with yourself.
So we're going to do a meditation to experience that.
To experience decluttering as an act of love.
So I'd like you to find a comfortable place to sit or to lie down and close your eyes.
Take in a deep breath.
And let out a breath.
The breath comes in.
The breath goes out.
It's relaxing to connect with the breathing.
Because breathing is an act of love.
Your body loves you.
Life loves you.
Breathing is a spontaneous act.
You don't have to think about it.
Your body regularly breathes you.
Not because it's been told it has to or that you have to ask it to do so.
It does it automatically.
So it's a great role model for love.
It's very relaxing to know that you're loved with each breath that you take in.
So I'd like you to take your attention,
Your curiosity,
And look around at your life.
From your heart's perspective,
Look around.
From that caringness.
And ask yourself,
Is there anything in my life that's hurting me?
That doesn't feel good?
Doesn't feel right?
It could be a thing.
It could be a relationship with someone.
An activity.
See what comes up.
It could be a thing.
It could be a thing.
Whatever you're discovering,
Know that it's your life.
And you get to take care of yourself.
Because you love yourself,
You would naturally remove anything that would harm you or that is harming you.
In the same way you would remove a stone from your shoe because it doesn't feel good to have a stone in your shoe.
And you remove it so you can feel better.
In the same way,
When you discover that there's something in your life that's hurting you,
It's natural to remove that thing from your life.
It's a loving act to do that.
And when you discover something that's hurting and you remove it,
It's natural to feel a strong sense of love spontaneously.
In the same way if a friend or family member did something very kind to you,
You could feel love for them and for what they did.
When you remove something from your life that's hurting you,
In the same way you can feel that love for yourself,
From yourself.
And the more you do this,
The more you discover the things in your life that aren't serving you.
The more love you feel for yourself each time it gets stronger.
So you have this clutter radar and it's the part of you that tells you something doesn't feel right.
It's like an alert.
Hey,
This doesn't feel right.
It's just that it's a clear sense.
Something's off.
That clutter radar is part of you and it operates out of love.
A very simple kind of love.
Very natural and spontaneous.
So we're going to end our meditation now.
You can open your eyes,
Look around,
Stretch.
Take a deep breath.
Congratulations.
You took a very honest look at yourself and your relationship with yourself.
And you discovered a way to be very kind to yourself.
A very natural,
Simple,
Easy way to be kind.
And these simple,
Kind things in our life have a way of really making us feel fulfilled.
And we deserve it.
It's nice to be kind to ourselves.
I wish you the best.
Take care.
