Welcome to your meditation for building self-trust for confidence.
Find a comfortable position for your practice.
Let your hands rest easily at your sides,
And gently close your eyes if that feels okay.
As you arrive for this meditation,
Take a few deep breaths,
Settling into this time for yourself.
When we hear the word confidence,
We might think that it's a feeling.
A feeling of steadiness,
Certainty,
Or even fearlessness.
But if you look closely at your own experience of confidence,
It doesn't always show up when you want it to.
It more often than not comes and goes in our lives.
Some days it's there,
Even if it's just a little confidence,
And some days it's not.
So if confidence is just a feeling,
Then it could be seen as unreliable,
Because it would have to spontaneously arise.
But in this practice,
We're going to look at confidence differently.
Confidence is not just a feeling that you wait for,
It's something that you build.
It's the quiet belief that you remind yourself of daily,
That you can meet what's right in front of you.
Not necessarily because you already know how,
But because you trust your ability to learn how.
You trust your ability to be able to adjust,
And to figure things out along the way.
So when we look at it through this lens,
Confidence is actually a skill.
And like any skill,
It develops through use.
It gets stronger the more often we show up.
It gets stronger through being willing to be a beginner.
Each time you stay present with a challenge instead of pulling away,
Or choose to take a small step forward instead of waiting to feel ready,
You're strengthening that skill.
You're becoming someone who can handle more.
And then,
When you can start to recognize your ability to handle more,
This skill of confidence grows.
So today,
As we move into this meditation,
You're not trying to force a feeling of confidence.
We're simply practicing the mindset that helps to build this skill.
We are building the trust in ourselves that whatever arises,
We can meet it,
We can learn from it,
And we can grow into what's needed to keep moving forward.
It's about trusting that you can become ready.
Take a slow breath in through your nose,
And out through your mouth as you invite yourself to arrive deeper into presence.
Feel your body supported by the chair or the surface beneath you.
Start to feel your chest rise and fall with every breath.
Breathe slowly and with ease.
With each exhale,
Let your shoulders drop a little more.
And let yourself be here with what is,
Softening into a readiness to invite in something new.
Now bring something to mind in your life that you feel a little bit of doubt around.
It doesn't have to be something overwhelming,
Just something that feels like a bit of a stretch for you.
Just notice what comes up.
And if there are feelings of self-doubt,
Hesitation,
Or even fear,
Know that they are valid.
Those feelings can be there,
But they're not going to be alone.
Because they will be there while you also step into trusting that you can learn what you need in order to handle it.
Confidence isn't about certainty.
It's about willingness.
So say to yourself in your mind,
I have a willingness to try.
I have a willingness to learn.
I have a willingness to adjust.
Take a breath in.
And as you breathe it out,
Settle into a feeling of willingness.
Now picture yourself stepping into the challenge that you have some doubt around.
Stepping into it with a willingness to try things out.
You don't need to have all the answers.
Just see yourself getting curious about how to get there as you go.
Maybe along the way you make small mistakes.
Or even big ones.
That's okay.
What we often call mistakes are simply an opportunity to adjust.
And we have a willingness to adjust.
Maybe in those moments you pause,
Take a deep breath,
And then try again.
Notice how this capable version of yourself tries again.
Nod your head yes.
I have the willingness to try again.
I have the willingness to try something different.
It doesn't mean it's always easy,
But you have the willingness to stick with it.
Now say to yourself in your mind,
I can figure this out.
I can learn what I need to know along the way.
I can handle taking another step.
Confidence grows through action,
Through repetition,
And through showing up again and again.
Now imagine your confidence is like a muscle.
Something that strengthens each time you use it.
You don't need to wait for it to show up one day out of the blue.
You're building it,
Consciously and with awareness.
With each breath in,
Imagine that muscle of confidence getting a little bit stronger.
And with each breath out,
Imagine that lingering doubt starting to evaporate.
Breathing in,
Building strength.
Breathing out,
Releasing doubt.
Now repeat to yourself in your mind,
I have a willingness to release doubt,
And I can learn how to strengthen my confidence.
I have a willingness to release doubt,
And I can learn how to strengthen my confidence.
I have a willingness to release doubt,
And I can learn how to strengthen my confidence.
I have a willingness to release doubt,
And I can learn how to strengthen my confidence.
Start to bring your awareness back to your body.
Sit up a little bit taller in your spine,
Rolling your shoulders back and opening up through the front of the chest,
Your heart space.
Sitting in your growing confidence.
Let the confidence that you are strengthening fill your body with energy and a willingness to move into the rest of your day with a little more trust in yourself.
You will figure it out,
Not all at once,
But by getting curious and learning along the way.
When you feel ready,
Gently open your eyes.
And remember that confidence isn't something that randomly sparks inside you.
It's something you build over time,
And you're already starting to build it.
Keep strengthening your willingness to walk towards the things that scare you,
And trust that your confidence is being built along the way.
Thank you for practicing with me today,
And I'm excited to share another meditation with you again soon.
I hope you have a beautiful day.
