This meditation is designed for preschool teachers about to start their day.
Maybe you're sitting in your car or your classroom waiting for the children to arrive.
Either way,
Take a moment to make yourself feel comfortable.
When you're ready,
Close your eyes or soften your gaze and take a deep breath in,
Hold,
And then slowly let it in.
I want you to imagine what your perfect day could look like.
All the children are happy and healthy,
Learning goals are being met,
Your co-workers are especially friendly,
Your administrators give you a compliment,
The weather is beautiful and just the right temperature,
Parents greet you warmly and express how thankful they are for all that you do for them every day.
No one has any accidents,
The conflicts between the children are easily resolved by reminding them of what they already know.
You tell everyone that you love them,
You play outside,
You make beautiful process art,
The music is soft and all feels warm and cozy.
You and your co-teacher are perfectly in sync,
Everything goes right.
Let's manifest this by taking another breath in.
Now pause and think of your own intention for the day.
Is there anything I didn't mention that would be part of your perfect day?
Think of that now.
Take another deep breath in.
Let's scan the body.
Is there anywhere that you're feeling any tension?
Maybe in your shoulders,
Maybe in your hips,
Maybe your hands or your stomach?
I want you to breathe into that part of your body and be with whatever emotion you're feeling there.
Are you anxious?
Are you feeling sad?
Are you in physical pain?
Is there something distracting you from doing the relational work that you will need to do today?
I encourage you to breathe in again to that spot on your body and as you exhale,
Picture leaving you whatever takes you away from the important work we are doing today.
And now we're going to use some positive affirmations.
I showed up today for the children.
I value children over systems.
I am helping them build their brains.
I am creating thinkers,
Questioners,
Explorers,
And artists.
I am changing the children and they are changing me.
Let's do another inhale and an exhale.
You are now ready to start your day.
Thank you for being with our children.
