Let’s talk about those New Year's resolutions. How many did you make? Have you broken them yet? Why do we do that? The pressure, the stress, and the anxiety drive us nuts. Let’s stop the insanity and just get present and meditate.

Namaste everybody and welcome to In The Flow with Marie Albert.

And it is a new year.

It's 2021.

I just,

It amazes me to be here and be here now,

You know.

Ah,

That's such a Ram Dass quote.

Be here now and that's actually what I was going to talk about today.

So it's really ironic that that would kind of come out of my mouth.

So resolutions.

Yeah.

Did you make resolutions this year?

Did you make them?

I did not this year.

A lot of years I'll be like,

Oh,

I'm going to start this.

I'm going to start that.

So ironically I decided not to make resolutions.

However I did start a few new things this year.

And like I'm starting to take my vitamins more.

That sort of stuff.

I'm trying to do that.

And it's such a day of,

You know,

Like January 1st is such a day of new beginnings and that's great.

But you know,

When you make it,

When you call it a resolution,

You know,

It kind of freaks me out.

And I really hate that,

That we call it resolution and that we put so much pressure on it,

On it,

You know,

And then all of a sudden three days in you miss a day and then you're like,

I'm a failure.

Nevermind you know,

I just,

I have such a problem with that because that's not what it's about.

To me a resolution is,

It's not like a daily thing that we have to do.

It's like a gotta do,

You know,

It's just,

It should be a new way of being,

Right?

It should be a new way of doing,

Like being a new way of being.

And how do you do that without making it a resolution?

How you do that is be present.

Being present right here,

Right now,

Right?

Like Ram Dass says,

Be here now.

How you do that is to be present.

And that's how our new things that we choose to do for New Year's Day,

You know,

With the start on New Year's Day,

That's how we keep it going.

And so that's what I want to meditate on today is just the taking the pressure off and knowing that,

Knowing that we are here right now,

Right here,

Right now,

Everything is perfect.

Have you ever considered that?

Like whenever you're like swirling and like the world is just swirling all around you,

Have you ever stopped and said to yourself,

You know what,

All is okay right here,

Right now?

That's a big thing to do and I've actually just started really doing that,

Like really doing that.

Like,

You know,

When you sit and you're sitting in meditation,

Well,

You know all that stuff because that's why,

You know,

Oh yeah,

Well I'm sitting here right now.

I mean,

It's like you're in a spiritual place anyway,

But you know what,

When you're in your everyday life,

When you're in your everyday life and things are swirling and their anxiety is high and you're at your job and so much is at stake,

All of that stuff,

Do you ever stop yourself and get present and say all is well right here,

Right now,

Right now?

Because it is.

And I'd love that.

We need to give ourselves the gift of that.

The gift of presence.

Oh my gosh,

I love that,

Right?

It's a gift.

The gift of presence.

So that's what we are going to meditate on today.

Okay,

So let's get ourselves comfortable.

I am chilly today.

Chilly.

So,

Wrap yourself in a blanket if you need to and get yourself situated so that you're the most comfortable.

Like I say all the time,

David G.

Talks a lot about,

David G.

Talks a lot about,

Comfort is queen.

So if you're comfortable when we sit for our meditation,

Then you may come back and do it again and that's what we're trying to do.

Now that is a resolution,

Right?

That is a resolution to meditate every day for 15 minutes.

Wow.

It's only 15 minutes.

And if you feel like you don't have the time,

Then you need to meditate for an hour.

Who said that?

Was that the Dalai Lama or Buddha?

So let's gently let our eyes close.

Let's take a nice deep breath in and release it.

Very good.

Beautiful deep breath in for this new day,

This new year.

And as we get ready to sit in the stillness,

Let's consider that we are the universe.

Our mantra today is aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

And what that means is,

In Sanskrit,

Is I am the universe.

I am the universe.

Because we are,

We are our own universe.

Before we start the silence and stillness,

Let me ask you a question.

What are you grateful for today?

What in your world is going well?

What in your world is beautiful?

So beautiful that you are so thankful.

For me,

It's I love beginnings.

I love,

Maybe it's the Aries in me,

I love the new beginnings.

So every year,

January 1st,

I just love the feeling of beginning again.

Everything new.

Very good.

And the next sacred question is this.

Who are you being when you are at your best?

Who are you being when you are being your best self?

Are you being compassionate?

Are you being love?

Are you being joy?

Perfect.

Perfect.

So our mantra today,

As I said,

Is aham brahmasmi.

If you forget the mantra or you lose it,

You can always just come back to your breath and concentrate on your breathing.

I will keep the time and let's begin.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

I am the universe.

Can start bringing your awareness back to your body.

And let's on this first day back in the new year,

Let's take a deep breath in,

Breathing in everything that you want for the year.

Compassion and joy and love.

Breathing in all of that.

Take a deep breath.

And let it sink into your body and release it.

Because today is the beginning of a new time for us.

It's so beautiful.

So thank you so much for joining.

I'm so glad that it's the beginning of a new time,

Beginning of a new age,

All of it,

Right?

So enjoy the rest of your day.

Thank you for joining and I will talk to you soon.

Namaste.
