Humming or Bhramari Pranayama is a calming breath technique where you inhale deeply and exhale with a gentle humming sound, like a bee. This vibration soothes the nervous system, quiets the mind, promotes relaxation and strengthens the immune system.

Hello and welcome to your breath practice.

Today we are going to be learning an ancient technique,

Bromary Breath or Honey Bee Breath.

This is a supportive technique for when you are feeling overwhelmed and need a moment of stillness.

It's also an amazingly effective technique to strengthen the immune system.

So take a seat or lie down and take your eyes to a low gaze or close them completely.

Now together we'll take one inhale and let that go with an exhale.

This breath is done by inhaling through the nose and exhaling with closed lips making a humming noise.

It'll sound like this.

Take another inhale in and let that go humming through the mouth.

Now continue doing this on your own time inhaling through the nose and exhaling humming until you're out of breath at the bottom and then continuing the pattern.

As we hum our body produces nitric oxide.

Nitric oxide is an antibacterial,

Antiviral and antifungal.

So then as we breathe this back in through our nose we have a potent dose to boost our immune system.

If I can catch myself right as I'm starting to get sick and I do this practice for as little as two to five minutes the cold just sort of dissolves on its own.

Continuing to breathe in through the nose and making that humming sound on your exhale.

Wherever you are taking one more inhale and extending that hum as long as you can.

Now switching back to normal breathing in and out through the nostrils.

Notice how your state may have shifted and take a moment of gratitude for yourself for taking the time to bring in the medicine of the breath.

Thank you for practicing today.
