Sinking Into the Light
A guided meditation exploring a progressive movement through the body, into the surrounding field, and into the deeper process of incarnation. From there, awareness is invited to open into more subtle, light-based dimensions of experience. This practice emphasizes grounding, softening, and allowing experience to unfold naturally.

My goal in this meditation is to help us learn to sink into the light as a practice.
We're going to start by sinking into our bodies as we do.
And then we're going to spend a lot of time focusing on sinking into the light.
And I will guide us through this progressively.
So as always,
We can start by getting comfortable and connecting with our breathing.
I like to take some deeper breaths as we arrive.
And each time you exhale,
There's a release of tension.
And you can sink deeper into your body.
There is gravity.
And when you relax into gravity,
You sink more into the base of your body.
You can land the base of your spine,
Your pelvic floor,
Your legs and feet.
Each breath,
We sink a little bit more.
And as we sink into our bodies,
We can feel what is moving.
We can feel that our sensations are flowing through our body.
We can feel our emotional world.
We can feel our thoughts and mental world.
When we tune into this movement,
Our body feels like a flow of energy.
And we soften into this movement.
We support movement by softening into it.
Everything that we feel is an opportunity to soften a little bit more.
And we can tune in together,
We can feel that we are here sharing the same space.
Tuning in is another way to relax.
It's a way of relaxing our focus from our personal separate body to the field.
Which means through my body,
I feel out into life.
It's an extension of my felt sense,
I feel what's happening all around me.
I feel this all around me the same way that I feel my own body.
I extend my presence into the place where we are.
And this is how we access the field,
The energetic presence that we all share.
We sink into it,
We soften into it,
We tune into it.
All these are forms of relaxation.
All these are ways of describing relaxation.
It has us come into a subtle presence that pervades our experience,
That pervades our world.
And our focus in this meditation is on light.
And I describe light,
I guide us towards light as the movement,
The incarnational movement into life that begins when we are born,
As we arrive,
And continues through this moment,
Until the day that we leave.
One movement.
We learn to tune into that which is moving.
My guiding question for you today,
To begin,
Is when you were born,
What arrives into the world through you?
What arrives into the field through you?
And we can feel that because this world and this field that we are connected to is transparent.
It's a light that actually passes through it.
So we practice this other way of softening or this other way of relaxing,
Becoming more subtle in our focus,
In our attunement.
We tune into the light.
When I'm born,
When you are born,
What arrives into the world through me?
Over the course of this group,
You have some connection to that,
Some anchor within yourself.
It can be a sense of joy,
Freedom,
Kindness,
Brightness,
Peace.
It can be many things.
The commonality,
It's not something that was given to you when you were born,
Or through the world,
Or it didn't come from someone treating you a certain way.
It's what you always have.
You always have had and always will have that cannot be given or taken away.
This process of relaxing into the light is really about attuning to a more subtle frequency.
And we can use a radio band as a way to imagine this.
So on one end of the band is our physical experience.
We rest into our chair,
The density of our chair under our body,
The density of our hands resting on our legs.
And when we tune into our sensations and the energy of our body,
We're becoming more subtle.
We're becoming more attuned to the subtlety of this radio band.
And when we tune to the light,
We become even more subtle.
We soften our perception even more.
Tune in through the transparency of our bodies,
Through the transparency of the field.
And listen to the light,
That subtle presence.
I'll say some more,
But we'll just take some minutes together just practicing this,
Just becoming more subtle in our attunement.
And as we practice,
As we do all of these triads that we've done,
We grow in our ability to stay attuned to the light,
To relax about the physical world,
To relax about our emotional world,
And allow ourselves to focus more on the subtlety.
The more we arrive,
The more light lands in our body,
The easier this gets.
But with time,
We can just keep softening more and more,
Letting go of the form and structure of our bodies,
The form and structure of our world,
Everything we know and remember about life,
Just sort of dissolve into the subtlety.
Here's my guiding question for our practice today that's unique that we haven't done yet.
This light comes into the world,
As you,
As your location,
As your sense of perspective,
As these unique qualities that you bring,
Where does your light come from?
Don't think about that.
Just sink into it.
We'll do this together.
Your light is a movement into life.
When you were born,
When you were living,
When you were dying,
You're moving through life.
Where does this movement come from?
What is the source of the stream of light,
The stream of life that is you?
I want you to imagine just as you have a spine or a physical body that you can sink into,
This movement of incarnating,
It's like a sort of spine that moves through the whole universe.
It moves through consciousness.
And with practice,
You can learn to sink deeper into it,
As you are in the world right now.
You can learn to sink back into the source,
The place that you come from.
This is not in the past,
It's happening now.
By tuning into the light,
By letting go of the world as it is,
By letting go of your body,
By softening your focus,
You just sink back into the source of your light,
The place that you come from.
And whatever you feel when you do this is your living answer.
It doesn't have to look any way in particular.
This is like when you lie in a pool of water,
And you float.
You just let the water hold your body.
Similarly,
By relaxing into the light,
Just give up any holding,
Any tension,
Any focus on the world at all.
And you just float in your light and in the source light that pervades the universe.
The movement of our life comes from one place.
There's one source,
One expression that all life is coming from.
If you are living right now,
The movement of your life is an expression of that.
We just relax,
We let go into that.
Just sinking back deeper and deeper.
And this is the practice of our meditation today.
We'll sit in silence now for some period of time.
Again,
You can sink into your body,
The ways that we practice at the beginning.
But each time you do so,
Just inviting you to inquire,
What am I bringing into this world?
And where does it come from?
Just sinking back into that source.
Enjoying the subtlety of your experience.
