You may or may not realize this,
But you are a great storyteller.
We all are.
Because our minds are really good at creating narratives and stories about just about everything that happens to us in our lives.
And I don't know if this ever happened to you,
Maybe not so uncommon,
But the other day I texted somebody and I got a text back.
And my mind started spinning a whole narrative and story about,
Oh my gosh,
This person is mad at me.
They don't like me.
I can't believe I screwed up.
Uh,
I can't believe they're acting this way and just getting myself into this whole,
Pulled into this whole story.
Turns out.
None of that actually panned out in reality.
This was all just construed in my own head.
And we do this a lot in our day,
Whether it's just waking up,
Having a bad moment,
Say,
Oh,
God,
This is going to be a terrible day.
Whatever that is,
We have these interpretations,
These stories that we begin to believe.
And so the invitation that I want to put out to you today is to really ask yourself this one simple question as you begin to notice and catch any of these stories in your mind.
What if this is fact and what of this is interpretation?
So really differentiating.
You can even take a piece of paper,
Put a line down the middle.
Versus interpretation.
And as you do that,
I think you're gonna start to realize how much of your mind creates and fabricates and constructs and construes these interpretations that are often distorted,
Inaccurate,
Self-critical.
Sometimes not true.
Be curious to hear what you discover.
