Often the mind can’t tell the difference between what’s real and what’s imagined. By visualizing relaxation flowing from one part of the body to another, the muscles relax and the busyness of the mind quiets down. Allow this relaxation to surround you, to fill you, and renew you.

As you begin this body scan relaxation,

Settle back into a comfortable position and let your head and neck be nicely supported.

Allow your breathing to become smooth and regular,

Just the right depth and just the right frequency.

I want you to take in a deep breath,

Breathe in and hold it.

And now breathe out slowly through slightly parted lips and just relax.

Let go.

Allow feelings of relaxation to spread now throughout your entire body.

Expraint yourself letting go.
