Take this chance to let go of all that's happened.

Let go of what may or may not come.

Turn in.

Tune in to your breath.

Inhale and let it all go.

Welcome to a hit of hope.

When it gets bad,

Do you ever catch yourself asking,

What's the point?

Why get up?

Why try?

What difference does it make?

What difference do I make?

Maybe life used to feel new,

Lush,

Full of possibility.

Maybe you used to feel alive.

Maybe you've wandered into a desert of the Spirit,

Where everything is dry,

Where everything is covered in things that hurt.

And if you're in that space,

Are you tempted to put up your hands in surrender?

Maybe it is a good time to surrender,

To surrender what has passed,

To surrender the stories holding you back and keeping you down.

You can surrender,

But do not give up.

Instead,

Pick the way you are going to handle this adventure you are on,

Whether that adventure is one of your own choosing or not.

If you are lost in a desert of the Spirit,

You can choose to keep going.

Try and find a friend to walk through the valley with you.

Make sure to find all the coolness you can along your path.

Rest.

Trust that you will walk out of this with a story to tell.

So you can choose to keep going,

Or you can choose to be like a cactus in your desert.

Stand tall.

Stand still.

Wait.

Let the sun,

The stars,

The scorpions come and go.

Inhale.

Exhale.

One day,

A bird will brave the needles.

One day,

A bird with wings and a song will burrow in your living heart.

Namaste.

Betsy's meditations, including this one, always have just the right mix of push to help us thru whatever it is, and empathy along the way.

"One day you will tell the story of how you survived your desert and it will become part of someone else's survival guide. One day..." I suspect YOU have already become part of quite a few people's survival guide Betsy. Namaste 🙏💫

Love the metaphor of the desert. My mind and body are like that - like the weather or a change in geography. Nothing like a little hit of hope to bring me back home.

As I ready myself for my first day back at work, this spoke to me on many levels - some of which I cannot even define. Despite knowledge I now possess about my place, my path, myself...I will stand tall and watch things come and go. My little bird will come. Thank you for this hit of hope. I see the light in you. 🤲🏻❤️🤲🏻

Your words seem to find me no matter where I hide in recesses of my mind. Funny how I am experiencing the very essence of what you speak when I find your meditation each morning. Namaste
