Hey.
Welcome to a hit of hope.
Have you ever been so caught up in your head?
Like the currents or the traffic or the weather or whatever metaphor you want to use,
That it's all so staticky and swirling and you can't get out?
It can be easy to blame ourselves.
Why can't I stop thinking like this?
But if you're caught in a riptide,
There's a power there,
Just as there is a power to our thoughts and energy.
So for this practice,
What we're going to do is not fight,
But rather face and move out of that head and into calmer places.
So I invite you to find some sort of comfortable position.
And from there,
Take a couple of deep breaths,
Drawing big,
Fresh energy into your body.
A couple more times,
Breathing in.
Surrender.
One more time,
Feed your body with fresh breath and let it.
If you can,
Bring your attention to your forehead.
Our stresses,
Our thoughts can gather there,
Creating these fine lines of tension.
This holding energy as if we have to think our way through to figure it out.
Know that you can soften.
You can relax,
Releasing that energy so that there is a softness.
And ease.
Now bring your attention to your eyes.
They do so much work for us.
Feel the ease,
The light that is ready to shine.
So that your eyes are these beautiful beacons and they can help you see what is,
Rather than trying to look back at what has already happened or what might be.
Get soft in your gaze and allow yourself to magnify the good.
The good inside of you and the good in the world out there.
Allow there to be some softness in your mouth,
Your lips,
Your jaw.
Sometimes we clench our jaws because we don't want anything mean to come out or we don't know what to say or we're just trying to grit our teeth as we get through.
And oh,
Is that understandable.
In this world of ours,
It can feel like there is so much to get through.
Moving away from resistance and that fight and moving towards something more sustainable.
Take a moment to appreciate what your neck does all day.
Holds up your head,
Which can be about 10 pounds.
And it's where our voices land,
Where they're located.
Do we say the thing?
Do we not say the thing?
Do we reveal our truth?
Do we hide our authentic self?
Our necks,
Our throats,
They do.
So send your neck some love,
Some gratitude,
Saying thank you for all you do.
And may you find peace and peace.
And now we reach our shoulders.
That's where we can put on our muscular armor,
Where we're asked to carry the weight of the world.
For right here and right now,
Put it all down.
Let it all go.
You are safe.
You are enough.
You are okay.
And now,
Your heart,
Like a beautiful field,
Filled with fierce roots,
Wild beings,
And the flying things that search out the sweet stuff.
Let your heart soften.
You've got this.
The space in your center heart,
Where your courage is,
Where your wisdom is.
Trust yourself.
Again,
You've got this.
You've got this.
But for right now,
You don't have to do anything.
You can simply breathe into your belly.
Inhale and exhale.
Drawing fresh life in and surrendering what you don't need inside anymore.
Legs are filled with life and they're soft.
You are here,
This full body,
Mind,
And spirit,
So you can live light and shine.
