A simple breath meditation.
Find a comfortable position to sit down with a straight back.
Make sure you are warm enough.
Don't remove any distractions.
Become aware of the surface beneath you.
Whatever is supporting you.
Parts of you that connect with the ground,
Chair or mat.
Close your eyes and turn your awareness to the rise and fall of your breath.
No judgement.
Just notice each inhale and each exhale.
Notice the length of each breath.
Notice where it goes in the body.
Acknowledge any sounds inside the room.
Acknowledge any sounds outside the room and in the far distance.
Notice any thoughts that arise.
Then return to listening to your breath.
If thoughts linger,
That's ok.
Just address them by saying,
I'll come back to you later.
But for now I'm focusing on breathing.
Spend a few more moments listening to your breath.
How does a breath feel?
How does a breath sound?
Nothing to do.
Nothing to concentrate on.
Just listening.
Bring your attention now to something that you are grateful for.
This could be anything big or small.
Without judgement,
Ask yourself,
What do I desire?
Or what do I wish to attract into my life?
Just focus on that thing without any feelings of lack.
As though it's here right now.
Coming back now.
Aware of your breathing.
And also becoming aware of the room.
Of your body.
Of your connection to the surface that you are sitting on.
When you feel ready,
Open your eyes.
Rub your hands together gently.
Or simply touch the floor,
Mat or chair to ground yourself.
And if you like,
Finish off by putting a hand over your heart.
And thank yourself for dedicating this time to your wellbeing.
If your eyes are closed,
You can open them now.
Thank you for taking part in this simple breathing meditation.
