Hello!
This is a story to listen to as you fall asleep.
It's a really peaceful story,
With some positive words and kind thoughts about feeling safe and loved.
I'm calling it a sleep adventure.
And I'm guessing you will love this sleep adventure.
And if you do,
You can listen to it all the time to help you fall asleep.
Are you ready to go on a sleep adventure?
Good.
First,
Get cozied up in your bed.
Set your head on your pillow and pull your covers all the way up to your chin.
Are you ready?
Because we're beginning right.
Our adventure begins in front of a stream.
This stream is not your ordinary stream.
It's shallow,
Slow flowing,
And crystal clear.
And when you crouch down to the stream and breathe in,
It smells almost like fresh baked cookies.
You sigh at how delicious the smell is.
And you understand that right now you are somewhere truly magical.
You take one more deep breath in.
Go ahead.
Breathe in with me.
Savoring the smell of the cookie river.
And then you breathe out.
Knowing that here you are completely safe.
On the other side of this river is an ancient forest.
The trees in this ancient forest seem to sparkle with light.
All at once you realize that you have to see these trees up close.
You find a carefully spaced path of stepping stones to cross the river.
And in front of the stepping stones is a sign.
The sign says breathe in for the small stones and breathe out for the large.
Indeed,
The stones are staggered.
One large and the next one small.
As you step on the very first smooth stone,
You can hear that each stone holds a tone.
The first stone hums like this.
You remember the sign and you take a big breath in.
And you hop along to the next stone that hums like this.
And you take a big breath out.
It's a long river with nine stones to cross.
You take each step carefully,
Feeling each cool smooth stone beneath your feet.
Breathing in for the small stones.
Breathing out for the big.
Two more stones.
You've arrived and you didn't fall into the sugar cookie river.
Although part of you wishes you could have tasted it to see if it tastes as good as it smells,
You didn't dare because this sparkly forest seems to be pulling you in.
In a good way,
In a warm way,
Like a hug from someone you love.
You walk slowly into the forest surrounded by large trees that must be older than your greatest grandmother.
Their trunks are so wide that your arms couldn't even begin to wrap all the way around them.
But still you wish you could.
Thousands of leaves rustle above you.
When you listen carefully,
They have a message just for you.
Do you hear it?
They say you are safe,
You are loved,
You are protected.
As the forest grows thicker,
The branches move aside for you as you walk.
The branches are careful not to scratch your face or your arms or your legs.
It's as if the trees understand that you are something this world has never seen before.
And as the forest opens into a meadow,
You understand you are one in a billion.
You cross the meadow,
Each blade of grass curling away from your legs so as not to tickle you as you walk.
In the center of the meadow is a large rock covered in soft green moss.
Your body is tired,
Your legs are heavy,
So you lay down on the moss-covered rock.
It's surprisingly soft and it holds your body perfectly.
You grow even more relaxed than before,
And you can see why the forest glitters.
It's filled with fireflies.
Just then,
The bushes rustle and a cat enters.
No,
As you look closer,
You can see that it's a kitten,
A baby panther,
And it's walking eagerly towards you.
Behind it comes another two baby panthers.
They yawn,
They stretch,
And they walk right up to you as if they know it's you,
As if they've always known you and they expected you tonight on this moss rack in this magical meadow.
They pounce gently onto the mossy stone where you lay,
One and then the other.
They nestle down beside you and lazily swat at the fireflies who hover above.
You set each of your hands on their sleek black coat,
And the two kittens fall asleep quickly,
Wrapping you in their warmth.
You're and more sleepy,
And as you fall asleep,
You listen to the trees rustle.
They whisper,
You are safe,
You are loved.
The panther kits curl around you.
Remember,
You are safe,
You are loved,
You are protected.
All night long as you sleep,
Good dreams will visit you,
And you are safe,
You are loved,
You are protected.
I'm wishing you the very best sleep,
And tomorrow the very best day yet.
