Begin by finding a comfortable position.
Close your eyes if that feels right for you.
Take a deep breath in,
Counting to four.
Hold for four and exhale for four.
Repeat this two more times,
Letting each exhale release any tension you're holding on to.
Inhale calm and exhale anxiety.
Your voice matters.
As you prepare to speak at a conference,
A wedding,
An interview or on any other occasion,
Picture yourself standing tall,
Rooted to the ground.
Feel the stability beneath your feet grounding you into the present moment.
You have things to say.
The information you're about to share is important.
So when and if anxiety creeps up,
Remind yourself that you are the messenger.
You deserve to be heard.
The many people who have told you otherwise were wrong.
Deep down you know it and I do too.
Quietly repeat to yourself,
Be you,
Belong,
Be you,
Belong,
Be you,
Belong.
Let this phrase echo in your mind,
Bringing you back to your authentic self and giving yourself permission and validation as you show up as you are,
Where and when it is safe to do so.
Take one last deep breath in,
Holding on to the calm that you've created and exhale slowly,
Feeling ready to share your voice with the world.
