Master Dogen calls the breathing the great miracle. In this track, we learn to become fully absorbed in the breath. When there is no subject left that is breathing, the wisdom of the heart can reveal itself.

As soon as we start sitting in meditation,

We focus all our energy to sit gracefully.

That means we concentrate on the verticality of your posture,

Pressing the knees or the feet well on the ground.

Let the body weight press well on the seat.

From the waist upwards,

Stretch the back,

The neck,

Tipping the top of the head toward the sky,

As if there was a fire on top of your head that you wanted to extinguish by pushing it up.

Then,

Relax all the unnecessary tensions in the body.

Relax the muscles in the face,

Especially the cheeks.

Develop a soft gaze that is posed on the floor in front of you,

Without looking at something particular.

Let the gaze become wide,

Vast like the sky,

That accompanies the clouds coming and going,

Without getting attached to any phenomenon.

Relax the tensions in the shoulders.

Relax the chest and the belly.

The back should be strong and straight.

The front soft and flexible.

The chest and the belly move in and out naturally on the rhythm of the breathing.

Become completely one with the breath.

Don't try to force your breath in a particular rhythm.

Just naturally follow it.

Observe it.

Be fully absorbed in that breath.

Observe how it flows through the nostrils,

Into the lungs.

And when breathing out,

If we have too many thoughts,

Too much stress,

Too many mental processes going on,

We can accompany the breathing out with a slight pressure on the intestine,

Letting the gravity point of the body descend into the lower belly,

To the area of the hara.

Descending to the lower belly,

To the area of the hara,

Center point of our energy.

The most direct way to stop this continuous flow of thoughts and emotions is by breathing out completely.

So breathe out until the end.

It's magic how our breath influences our mental processes.

Being fully aligned,

Fully concentrated,

Fully absorbed in the breathing,

The mind naturally calms down and we can return to our natural condition.

Without aversion,

Without attachment.

This way of conscious breathing is what Master Duggan calls a great miracle.

He says in the morning we practice 3,

000 great miracles.

In the evening we practice 800 great miracles.

Good actions in the world he considered as minor miracles.

The great miracle is the breath of life,

Being fully aligned with it.

We can observe for ourselves when we stay tuned with the rhythm of the breathing,

When we stay absorbed in that breath.

The world that evolves around us evolves in harmony,

At least in a more harmonious way than if we oppose it,

Than if we oppose it,

Wrestle and struggle with it.

Therefore in any given situation,

Whatever difficulty we face,

Let's always connect with the breath.

It is in this breath that the wisdom of the heart reveals itself.

It is when there is no one,

No subject anymore that is breathing,

But when there is just a breath,

That is a great miracle of natural harmonization,

Deconditioning ourselves from all these influences,

Stagnated behaviors,

Prejudices.

It is in this simple breath that we become completely free from all these negative influences.
