Hi,
I'm Barbara Murray Lane and welcome to my guided meditation designed to support you in letting go of worry,
Doubt,
And fear.
Beginning by finding yourself in a comfortable and restful position.
Preparing by focusing on your breath.
Noticing but not changing the rhythm and the depth of your breathing.
Letting the inhale and exhale settle any restless parts in body,
Mind,
And spirit.
With this breath in and this breath out.
And now imagine yourself walking along a path in a place that feels familiar and safe.
Invoking pleasant and warm memories.
As you wander this familiar path,
Noticing your surroundings,
You begin to pay attention to the landscape which has a variety of trees.
The trees capture a slight breeze in their branches.
The sun shimmers on their leaves and birds sing perched high above.
Up ahead you notice a beautiful tree folding over your path.
Curious you move towards this natural wonder.
Approaching you discover a weeping willow tree gracefully sweeping the path before you.
An invitation perhaps?
Her branches though bent with age are strong and supple as the breeze gently moves through her.
Her roots sink deep into the earth expanding and pushing up into the path you walk.
You sense a deep calm and wisdom in this tree.
And you know you have come upon the worry tree as she is known in these parts amongst the other trees.
She presents herself to those who might need to be unburdened.
From such things as worry,
Doubt and fear.
Her shelter offers the weary traveler a reprieve from such burdens.
She invites you to enter her home and rest beneath her branches created by her unique shape.
And so finding an opening you leave your path and enter a magical secret hideaway.
You find yourself in a small cavern with an earthen floor,
A roof of branches overhead,
A massive trunk at its center.
You can stand and fragments of sunlight filters in through the cracks of the branches.
The air is cool.
It's a cozy and quiet place.
An instant sense of relief floods you as if by magic worry,
Doubt and fear evaporate while you rest in her shelter.
No one asking anything of you in this protected place that comes with forgetting,
Checklists,
Tasks or what ifs,
Should ofs,
If only,
Am I good enough,
Regrets and on and on.
And so you sit quietly letting go,
Releasing all the worry,
Doubt and fear energy,
Finding solace and peace in this special place.
Feeling restored,
A new energy surges through your body,
Mind and spirit.
An awakening sense of joy and playfulness.
A childlike energy that grabs you.
The branches of the trees surrounding you invite you to climb and explore and so you do.
Connecting to the huge trunk of the willow tree first and then climbing up on her branches closest to the ground.
Climbing higher and higher,
Laughing and giggling as you go.
Growing stronger and more confident in the power and strength of your body as you climb.
Feeling your torso connected to your limbs,
Your arms and legs,
Hands and feet all working together till finally breathing hard you find a nook to rest in.
Cradled by the tree which rocks you ever so gently,
A beam of sunlight finds you and shines all her light on your beautiful,
Exhilarated being.
You rest.
Breathing,
Settling back into a comfortable rhythm,
Thoughts quiet,
Body expansive and spirits smiling.
And so you stay here for a while.
And when you choose to leave,
The willow tree invites you to leave all your worry,
Doubt and fear in her shelter as they have no power here and she will gladly keep them.
She also reminds you to come and find her whenever you have the need.
Take leave with blessing and gratitude.
Journey back to the path,
To the place of your departure and then back to the present moment.
Recording any aspect of this meditation in your journal.
With gratitude,
Barbara.
