Welcome.

In this video,

I will be talking you through five different ways to help stimulate your vagus nerve.

Which is known as that highway of your parasympathetic nervous system.

The rest and digest mode.

Now the first way we're going to look at is through your breath.

So even just taking a deep inhale through the nose.

And exhaling slowly through the mouth.

The key is really to try to make sure that the exhale is slightly longer than the inhale.

Now the second way to help stimulate your vagus nerve is through sound.

So the vagus nerve runs near your vocal cords,

Which gives us a really beautiful opportunity right here to help stimulate it in a very effective and yet simple way.

Now this could be through humming or even singing.

Now the third way to help stimulate your vagus nerve is through gargling.

So you could try taking a glass of water and maybe just taking a sip and gargling for a few seconds.

Exploring what feels best for you and your body.

Now the fourth way to stimulate your vagus nerve is through sighing.

So we might try that now as well.

Just taking a deep inhale through the nose.

And as you exhale,

We just.

Sigh it out.

Beautiful.

Now the fifth way to help stimulate your vagus nerve is through an ear massage that we're going to try together right now.

So the vagus nerve runs near your ear as well which is why this can be another really effective tool.

So we're going to start right here at the tops of our ears and just breathe.

Ah.

Maybe sighing it out as well.

And just massaging all the way down the ear.

And breathing.

All the way down to our earlobes.

And if you're wearing earrings like me,

You might need to work around them.

Beautiful.

Now we're going to bring our hands into peace signs.

And we're going to bring the ear in between our peace signs so that we can massage the front and the back of the ear simultaneously.

And just breathing.

Hmm.

Maybe sighing it out again.

And when you're ready,

Lowering your hands back down and maybe closing your eyes for a moment.

And just noticing how you feel.

Any sensations?

Any shifts in the body.

Just seeing if we can observe.

Without any judgment.

Just noticing.

And when you're ready,

Slowly opening your eyes back up.

Coming back to the space around you.

Thank you for practicing with me.

And I hope that this video has begun to give you some ideas of how to explore stimulating your vagus nerve.

Thank you.
