Welcome to this exercise that I like to call Mantra Plus Touch.
In this exercise,
We're going to be working with the sea tactile afferent fibers that can be found in the upper body,
Especially across the chest,
The arms,
The face,
And the neck.
What's so great about these nerve fibers is that they are especially responsive to affectionate,
Gentle touch,
Which we will be offering ourselves today.
And then combining it with a mantra that starts out by saying,
What if I were,
And then you pick a word.
So today we'll be using the word joyful.
But when you do this on your own,
You may wish to change that word to what?
To what if I were calm or what if I were abundant.
Picking something that you would like to embody more so in your life.
And then the mantra is going to evolve as the exercise evolves as well.
But you don't need to remember it right now.
We'll practice it together.
So find a comfortable seat for yourself.
And we're simply going to Take a little sigh.
Arriving here And when you're ready,
Gently stroking the face.
While saying What if I were joyful?
What if I were joyful?
What if I were joyful?
What if I were joyful?
Moving on to the neck and chest and now we say I can be joyful.
I can be joyful.
I can be joyful.
I can be joyful.
And moving on to the upper arms and we say I will be joyful.
I will be joyful.
I will be joyful.
I will be joyful.
And the lower arms and we say,
I am joyful.
I am joyful.
I am joyful.
I am joyful.
And lowering your hands back down.
You may wish to close your eyes for a moment.
Just letting that practice integrate.
And noticing how you feel.
Any sensations?
Noticing.
Observing.
Without any judgment.
And when you're ready Slowly opening the eyes back up.
Coming back to the space around you.
Thank you so much for practicing with me today,
And I hope to see you here soon again.
