Lost by David Wagoner Stand still.

The trees ahead and bushes beside you are not lost.

Wherever you are is called here.

And you must treat it as a powerful stranger.

Must ask permission to know it and be known.

The forest breathes.

Listen.

It answers.

I have made this place around you.

If you leave,

You may come back again saying here.

No two trees are the same to Raven.

No two branches are the same to Wren.

If what a tree or a bush does is lost on you,

You are surely lost.

Stand still.

The forest knows where you are.

You must let it find you.

A beautiful piece. And particularly poignant for me as recently I've been feeling deeply connected to trees around me. It's almost as if they've been saying, "here, we are right here. You are never lost. We've got you". These words cut right to that same sense for me, thank for sharing this wonderful poem πŸ™

πŸ’– David's words speak to me so deeply. It's what I experience out in the forest again and again. How much easier to feel it there because it comes naturally to us when we are willing to let ourselves be found. Also it seems to be sometimes, we are never lost. Thank you so much for this beautiful poem! πŸ™πŸ»β€οΈπŸ™πŸ»
