Hello beautiful souls and welcome back to the podcast.
Lately I've been thinking about the older people-pleasing patterns or ways that we can become enmeshed and enabling.
All the while thinking that we are being supportive with the intention to show up and minimize the discomfort of others,
Only to later feel overwhelmed,
Maxed out,
And burned out.
And something I heard recently from a friend was their own journey into breaking out of that pattern,
And it's simply the recognition that we show up with an unspoken distrust in the other's capacity and ability to hold and manage what they're experiencing,
While also having a distrust for our own capacity to be with our unsettling experience,
And the shift from trying to minimize the inevitable,
The law of undulation,
The fact that we will wave in this life,
We will have our beautiful joyous experience and the troubling,
And we stop trying to resist that and become present to it with a sense of openness,
A new world becomes available to us,
The world of our own power and sovereignty,
And not just to us,
But to others,
And when we hold that open stance,
There is a new belief that arises,
I believe in you,
And I believe in me,
I believe in your capacity to be with this without drowning,
I believe in your power to hold the complexity of life's undesirable circumstances,
Without making it finite,
Without seeing it as a predictor of the future,
But only a mark on this moment,
That can then become a part of the tapestry of marks you make in each subsequent moment,
That you can turn into a work of art,
That you can use to honor the fullness of who you are and what you've come to share and witness and create,
I believe in you,
I believe in the power of your conscious breaths and ability to stay curious and open and compassionate and graceful,
While creating space for yourself and having boundaries with others as needed,
I believe in your power to that you're telling a story about this moment based on your emotion,
And when you can balance and regulate and return to solid ground about objectivity,
You have the capacity to be open with it and rest in the unknown,
Not as a threat,
But as an opportunity,
Or as Dan Siegel would say,
The plane of possibility where anything can emerge,
Your highest imagination and beyond,
Greater joy,
Greater abundance,
Greater freedom,
Deeper love,
Deeper connection,
Deeper understanding.
If you've been following me for a while,
You've heard me quote Thich Nhat Hanh,
Who says that all of our suffering comes from misunderstanding or not understanding,
And I just love resting in that truth any moment I experience suffering,
To return home to my center and ask,
What in this moment am I not understanding about myself or other?
What in this moment am I missing?
Because I'm trying to fill all the space with my own stories,
Trying to catch my falling mind that feels so uncertain and insecure,
As my old paradigms and patterns are being expanded,
And in that questioning,
I return to belief and hope,
A new way of seeing,
A new way of being,
A new way of standing,
And in your legs,
Ability to walk forward.
I believe in the power of your hands to not just hold the moment,
But to be a collaborator and help shape it.
The ways you mold the clay,
I believe in your patience,
I believe in your presence,
I believe in your capacity to cry and experience sorrow when needed,
Without drowning in your own tears.
That all things change,
That impermanence is guaranteed,
I believe in the elastic flexibility of your soul.
I can stretch and bend to show its strength,
And to hold and contain and be boundaried when needed.
These are words I speak to myself as well,
In you,
I believe in the power of your voice,
To move through uncertainty while standing in your own,
Becoming certain in your ability to navigate and manage any life circumstance,
Without losing yourself,
I believe in your ability to move through it while reclaiming a part of yourself that has outsourced their joy,
Their happiness,
Their peace.
When we return to pure belief in power,
We feel the shift within our own being,
The fog,
The fear,
The obligation,
The guilt,
The heavy cloth we've placed over reality that has distorted or minimized our view,
To see beyond,
To see potential,
To see patterns,
And to see a path forward.
And all too often many of us are looking for a path to follow,
Forgetting that we are the ones that can carve a new one for ourselves.
So dear ones,
I am up early this morning,
Honoring my internal call to share this message and reminder,
To believe in yourself,
Believe in others,
And be generous and compassionate with yourself and others,
As your soul is being stretched and pulled.
Remembering that emotions are energy in motion,
Temporary reminders and messengers,
All sent and offered as an opportunity to believe in yourself and to become the certainty you seek.
I love you beautiful souls.
Thanks for listening and be well.
Much love and light.
