In these times of social distancing, we must make an extra effort to connect with others. During this practice, we can close the distance between us and our loved ones and find the connection we are seeking. I heard a quote today by Lama Willa Miller, "In a pandemic, self-isolation is called quarantine. In Buddism, it is called a retreat. From the cave of our home, like the meditators of ancient times, we can consciously kindle the lamp of compassion and connection."

In these times of social distancing,

We must not let isolation become our norm.

There are measures we can take to seek the connection we desire,

Even when distance stands between us and those we love and miss.

During this short meditation,

We will send energy to our loved ones and those who we cannot be with in person.

You may not be able to see them receive the love,

But they will receive it and may feel an inexplicable strength and energy from it.

I heard a quote today by Lama Willa Miller.

In a pandemic,

Self-isolation is called quarantine.

In Buddhism,

It is called a retreat.

From the cave of our home,

Like the meditators of ancient times,

We can consciously kindle the lamp of compassion and connection.

So let's go within now.

Gently closing over your eyes,

Take a nice deep inhale through your nose and exhale as you sigh the breath out your open mouth.

Do that two more times.

Inhale through the nose and exhale sigh it out your open mouth.

One more time.

Inhale through the nose.

Hold it at the top and exhale sigh it out your mouth.

Relax your shoulders down your back.

Find a straight but relaxed spine and scan your body now and release any other areas of tension.

Now start to bring your awareness from your mind down the center line of your body and into your chest.

Notice the rise and fall of your lungs and chest as you breathe in and out with your natural rhythm.

Now go a little deeper into your chest and bring your awareness to your heart.

Let your awareness settle here,

Just being present in your heart space.

Now start to direct your breath as if you were breathing through your heart space.

On the inhale the air goes in through your nostrils,

Down your trachea and into your lungs.

Feel your chest inflate and your heart fill with love and warmth.

And on the exhale watch your chest fall and the air exit out through your trachea and nostrils.

On the inhale your heart fills with love and light and on the exhale your body fills with this warming energy.

Exhale love and light,

Exhale release it through your entire body.

Now call to mind a family member,

Loved one or friend who you are dearly missing at this time.

Picture them in your mind and hold them in your heart.

On your next inhale fill your heart space up with love and light and on the exhale send this love to your loved one as if you were sending energy from your heart directly to theirs.

Imagine this loving light filling every cell of their body,

Bringing them health,

Happiness,

Vitality and joy.

On the inhale fill up on love and light from your heart and on the exhale send it to your loved one,

Picture it entering through their heart and filling their body with love and light.

For the next few minutes we'll continue to send energy to your loved one,

Inhaling love and light and exhale send them love.

Now call to mind a family member,

Loved one or friend who you are dearly missing at this time.

On the exhale send this love to your friend,

Feeling the spirit of your love and light you you you you you you Slowly start to bring your awareness back into the room to your feet on the floor to your hands and your lap and When you are ready Open your eyes I hope this practice has not only helped you feel closer to your loved ones But also helped your loved ones feel closer to you Helped us close the distance between our connections Come back to this practice whenever you start to feel isolated or alone We are all in this together and i'm so very grateful that you spent this time with me today Thank you and namaste
