Hello beautiful being,

Thank you for choosing me to be your guide at this moment.

We usually either get hooked by the stories our mind tell us,

You know,

Like how your mind takes you places,

Whether it is in the past or in the future,

Or we try to avoid certain thoughts by distracting ourselves with food,

TV,

Scrolling on Instagram,

Alcohol,

Drugs and so on.

So since you are here,

I am assuming that you fall in one or the other category.

So today I'm going to show you a fascinating side of your mind where you would neither be clinging nor trying to avoid your inner world.

Now I would be first guiding you through the practice so that you can experience that state of peace of mind and then I would share from where I got this inspiration for this practice.

So today let's get to know our mind better.

Take a comfortable position,

You can sit,

Stand or lie down.

As you do so,

I invite you to gently close your eyes.

For the next few moments,

I would stay quiet and during this time,

I invite you to become curious and observe what is the next thought that comes to your mind and once you notice that thought or become aware that you are thinking,

Then again say to yourself,

I wonder what would be the next thought that would come to my mind and then just notice.

Okay,

You can start now.

Become curious as to what would be your next thought.

You don't need to do anything,

Just watch and ask yourself,

What would be my next thought?

As you find yourself thinking,

Notice it and then again become curious as to what would be your next thought.

As you are watching your thoughts,

Take a deep breath in and exhale and now whenever you feel ready,

You can gently open your eyes.

How was your experience?

Some people notice that when they are in the seat of consciousness or when they are aware in this way,

The mind becomes quiet and it is also a possibility that your experience was different which is okay because at least this time you were not hooked by the thoughts for the whole time but you might have had those moments of coming back and realizing that you are thinking which in meditation are the golden moments and if you would like to experience that peace of mind,

Then you can try this meditation again,

Maybe some other time.

Okay,

So as promised,

Let me tell you about where I got the inspiration for this practice.

So the source was my own meditation practice.

I was sitting and practicing mindfulness of breath and my mind was very busy at that time so at one point I got very irritated and I decided I will shift my object of meditation itself.

So instead of focusing on the breath,

I will focus on the thoughts.

So then I was like,

Let's see what my mind will throw at me now and to my surprise there was this pin drop silence in my mind for a while and then again the thoughts came and I was surprised that wow,

Why is no thought coming?

So then I recognized and said to myself that this is a thought in itself that you know why is no thought coming right now and I laughed a bit at my mind playing tricks and then again I went to noticing my thoughts and again there was so much peace.

So this is how I discovered this little trick and just a side note here,

The aim of meditation or even during my own practice,

The aim was never to have a quiet mind but to be aware of the reality as it is,

Even if the reality is that your mind is flooded with thoughts.

So even if your mind don't go quiet just practice becoming aware and curious about your thoughts as this way you are practicing mindfulness and you might not be seeing a direct benefit of it during your practice but it will somehow better your day outside of the meditation room.

So just like you can't force your mind to be quiet,

Similarly you can't trick your mind into believing that you accept the flow of thoughts as it is and you are curious about them when in reality you are not and you are just trying to quiet your mind by telling it that I am curious about the next thought.

You have to be genuinely interested in noticing your thoughts and the peace will follow.

Your intention should not be to suppress your thoughts.

So I hope that you were able to experience that peace that you needed right now and if not then at least you were able to be mindful of your thoughts.

Thank you for joining me today in this practice.

You are welcome to revisit this track to practice with me again or even just to be reminded of the intention behind doing this practice.

I would be looking forward to hear about your experience in the review of this track.

Take care.

Bye-bye.

Beautiful meditation to calm the mind observing thoughts with curiosity instead of supression and becoming frustrated about the mind chatter. I love listening to your calming voice. Thank you for sharing your own experience as well. It always makes me smile when I catch myself think β€œI’m not thinking” πŸ˜‰
