Hello and welcome to another episode of Come Back Home to You,
A meditation and self empowerment podcast designed for you to get out of your head and come back home to your heart,
Where all your answers reside.
In today's episode,
We are talking about how to be your own inspiration.
Stick with me to the end where there will be a guided meditation to help get you out of your head and back into your body,
Back into your heart.
So have you ever done this and maybe you do this now where you are looking up to someone and you're putting this person on a pedestal.
Maybe it's a celebrity or guru.
Maybe it is a family member or a friend or just someone you know or someone you follow on social media.
I know how this feels.
I did this myself.
I put this person on a pedestal.
I thought they knew everything.
And this is when I had really good self awareness.
I thought of myself.
I still hit the override button when they gave me a suggestion or maybe told me something that they thought I should do.
I took it to heart that they knew better than I did.
And I'm here to tell you,
No one knows better than you.
You have all your answers within.
And when I listened to this person,
I believed it so much that I stopped believing in myself.
And when we do that,
We give our power away,
Even subconsciously to other people.
And I want you to take back your power and to feel confident in yourself and the way we feel confident in ourselves and the way we really,
Really,
Really love ourselves.
That feeling of self love is so highly talked about in the self help world.
But how do we actually feel that?
And the best way that I know how to feel that is through feeling confident,
Feeling empowered.
Now,
These are all feelings that we feel within.
And I'm talking about feeling a lot because it's true.
No one can give us this.
We can be in romantic relationships with our partner and want to feel loved by them.
And I'm guilty of this myself.
Have you ever experienced that where you wanted your partner to do certain things or treat you a certain way?
To feel loved by them?
I know I have.
Have you ever been at a job where you wanted to feel appreciated?
I was there as well.
Or even in friendships where you wanted to be treated a certain way.
Now,
I am all about being in relationships and finding ourselves through them.
I'm not one of those people.
And I don't believe I don't believe in this where people will say,
You have to love yourself first before you can find your true love.
I do not believe in that because I think that's how we find ourselves.
That's how we shape ourselves through being in relationships.
That's how we find out things we like and things we don't like.
And we grow and we move.
We move forward with ourselves.
But I'm here to share with you a way to feel empowered with yourself.
So grab your journal,
Grab a notebook or maybe even just a back of an envelope.
It doesn't have to be pretty.
We're here to be messy and real and authentic and to peel back those onion layers.
And I'm going to give you some journal prompts that you can ask yourself.
So going back to the feeling of confidence,
Just like the feeling of being brave,
I think those are action steps.
We take little,
Little steps each and every day to gain confidence,
To feel brave.
Brave is an action step.
And I want you to honor the space of where you are to where you want to be.
So maybe right now you're in a low place or you're not feeling that confident and you want to feel a certain way.
So I want you to honor the space of not yet.
And maybe you're there right now.
In the space of not yet is a space where we have choice,
Where we build up our self awareness,
Where we have those aha moments.
This is where the juice is.
This is where the magic is.
This space of in between is where when you discover that moment of this person doesn't know better than I do.
I know myself better than anything.
That my friend is where you feel that self love.
That's where that builds.
And if you're feeling friction in your life,
That's okay.
Physics will say physics will tell us that in order for anything to grow,
It takes friction.
So if you were to look under a microscope,
You would see a bunch of things moving and grooving together,
Creating friction.
That's growth,
My friend.
So I'm going to ask you some questions.
You can write these down and reflect on them.
Who have you been looking up to?
Is it a friend?
Is it a role model?
Is it someone on social media?
Is it some guru?
Who is that person?
And feel free to pause this or to write down and come back and journal later.
Next I want you to write down all their qualities that you love.
What are all their qualities that you look up to?
Next I'm going to tell you that everyone you encounter is a mirror.
And even the feeling of jealousy,
Even though it feels so uncomfortable,
It's actually an okay emotion to feel.
And I'll tell you why.
Because when we're jealous or feeling that envy creep up,
It's because you know in your heart of hearts that that is what you are capable of as well.
So I want you to write down if you're jealous or envious of anyone,
Let that emotion right now be okay for you to feel.
Again,
We're talking about peeling these onion layers back,
Ladies and gents.
We're getting real with ourselves.
And if we're looking at the emotional scale,
There are no good or bad feelings.
They are what they are.
What is good or bad is how we respond or react to these emotions.
A lot of times we can feel shame around an emotion we feel.
But I'm here to tell you it's okay to feel all of the emotions.
All of them.
You can write that down.
It's okay to feel how I feel.
As long as we don't react negatively to have an impact negatively on anyone else,
It's okay.
It's okay to feel how you feel.
It's just feelings.
We judge them as better good.
But like energy,
Everything's energy.
So going back to the feeling,
People are mirrors.
So what you see in this person,
All their qualities that you just wrote down are within you.
That's right,
I want you to go look at that list again.
All those qualities that you think or that you wrote down,
You look up to this person because they have qualities about you that maybe you haven't unleashed yet.
You see these qualities of them that are within you that are ready to be unleashed.
So maybe even circle the top three qualities that you love or look up to in this person.
Those are the qualities that are ready to be unleashed by you.
I believe in ourselves.
We have an inner child.
We have our present self and we have our higher self.
Now sorry if that's a little too woo-woo for you,
But I will explain.
We each have this little girl or little boy within us that feels like we're either not good enough or we're too much.
And I do a lot of inner child healing work,
But just for today's episode,
I will just give you a brief example of what that is.
It's as if there's this unmet need.
Maybe you can think back to when you were a certain age of how you felt if you didn't have a need met.
Sometimes our inner child will come out and our inner child will feel afraid and want to scream or cry or need a hug and that's okay too.
Our inner child is there to let us know when maybe a need is not being met or maybe when we're afraid or we're scared.
And that's where the higher self comes about.
Now we have a higher self I believe within us.
Our higher self is like our future self.
It's like you in 10,
20,
30,
40 years from now that knows that everything works out just as it should.
That everything is unfolding and that you are right where you are meant to be.
And this future self has seen your whole life played out and knows the greatness that's about to unfold.
And then we have our present self.
The present self that's just here right now listening to this podcast,
Taking it all in.
So what if you allowed your higher self,
The part of you that knows everything works out just the way it should,
The part of you that's confident,
Empowered,
What would that higher self say to you right now in this moment?
And I invite you to journal on that.
What would your higher self say to you?
At the end,
We will be doing a higher self meditation.
So stick with me.
So I want to ask you if you had no fear about anything right now,
What would you do?
What risk would you take?
Would you have a conversation that you've been maybe not ready to have?
Would you apply for that job?
Would you start that business?
Would you put yourself on a dating app?
What would you do?
And I want you when you're ready to write that down.
I invite you to write down all the things you would do.
And you don't even have to do them.
You just have to think about what it might be.
And next,
I want you to journal or write down one thing you are proud of yourself for.
Maybe it won't come easily to think of something,
But even the small things,
Because transformation is truly about these small choices that we make.
Who do you have to be to show up as your higher self?
As a person that you want to be?
Who do you have to be?
How does he or she think?
What thoughts do you have right when you wake up in the morning?
Do you say to yourself,
I own this day?
This day is mine.
I get to create whatever I want to create today.
Life is unfolding for me.
Where in your life have you been feeling not ready?
What feelings do you have?
What thoughts do you have around what is not working for you?
And with that said,
We are going to go into a guided meditation and I'm going to walk you through a short journey.
So wherever you are,
You can place both feet on the floor.
Roll your shoulders down and back if you're sitting down.
Feel free to lay down as well.
And we're going to tighten up our whole body from our head to our toes.
On your next inhale,
I want you to tighten up your whole body.
Bring your shoulders to your ears.
Squeeze your face muscles.
Squeeze your fist.
Squeeze your stomach,
Your whole body.
Hold it in.
And on your exhale,
Fully relax,
Dropping your shoulders down,
Relaxing your hands.
And on your next inhale,
Tighten your whole body from your head all the way down to your toes tight,
Tight,
Tight.
And on your exhale,
Release and relax and fully let go.
We're going to do this one more time.
Work with your breath.
On your next inhale,
Fully tighten your whole body from your head to your toes as tight as you can.
And this time we're going to hold it just a few seconds longer.
And on your exhale,
Fully relax and fully let go.
Doing that tension and release exercise really helps to relax all the muscles.
Relax the muscles around your eyes.
Relax your jaw muscles.
Let your tongue relax in your mouth.
Open your chest,
Pushing those shoulders back.
Relax your stomach.
Relax your hips,
Your arms and your legs.
And if thoughts come up during the meditation,
That's okay.
Thoughts will come up all the time.
We're not trying to stop the thoughts.
We're not trying to run away from them.
We're trying to stay with them.
We're trying to stay home in our bodies without our thoughts trying to scare us away.
We invite the thoughts in.
If thoughts come about,
That's okay.
Come back to deepening and slowing your breath.
Now I want you to imagine with every inhale,
Your breath flowing down all the way down to the lowest part of your hips,
Your stomach.
We're opening up the pelvic area with each breath.
And on your exhale,
The breath flowing back out of your mouth like an ocean wave flowing in and flowing out.
And as each and every thought comes about,
Slow your breath down.
Deepen your breath.
Feel free to keep your eyes closed.
And I want you to imagine setting all of your worries down in a suitcase right next to your side.
And for the next few minutes,
The universe,
God,
Whatever your higher power is,
Is going to take over that suitcase and get to work.
Right now,
You get to just be.
I want you to think of what a good day feels like.
What would you feel on your best day?
Would you feel calm,
Joy,
Excited,
Confident?
How would you feel on your best day?
What would your best day look like?
Who would be around you on your best day?
Is it a friend,
A family member?
Maybe it's a made up person that you haven't even met yet.
We're going to allow our minds to go a little crazy using our imagination.
I want you to think of a time in the past.
Maybe it's when you were a kid.
Maybe it was just several years ago.
Whatever pops into your head first,
Let that be it.
I want you to think of a time where you felt so much freedom.
You just felt free,
Not a care in the world.
What were you doing?
I want you to go back into this memory like you're there right now.
Just picture what you were doing.
I can picture in my mind being at my grandparents cottage on the lake.
They had this little cute little home,
This big yard.
I remember just running around,
Blowing bubbles,
Chasing rabbits,
Just running.
I am not a runner by any means,
But the feeling I had was I didn't care what people thought of me.
I was free in my body.
I was free in my mind.
The only limits I had was when maybe one of my parents said it's time to come in.
When you have that memory,
I want you to ask yourself,
What were you wearing?
How did you feel in your body?
What thoughts were you thinking?
Who were you with?
And now I want you to bring that feeling into the present moment.
I want you to name it.
For me,
It would be confident.
I felt confident when I felt so free in my body,
In my mind.
I wasn't worried about anything.
To me,
That's a feeling of feeling confident.
What is that feeling to you?
This is a feeling that's ready to be expressed,
That's wanting to be expressed.
Imagine if you felt this feeling from today going forward,
Even just 1%,
1% more than you have been feeling recently.
How would your life be different?
Let's just say you felt this feeling half of the time.
50%,
50% in your body.
How would your life be different if you only just felt this feeling 50% more?
Imagine the possibilities.
Now I want you to think,
I want you to name the word,
And we're going to do a mantra.
And you're going to create your own mantra here.
So when you're ready,
We're going to say it together.
I am,
And then you name the feeling.
So I just mentioned,
I felt confident.
And so when I say my I am statement,
I'm going to say confident,
And I'm going to own it.
So we're going to do it together.
I want you to speak this out loud.
So when you're ready,
Repeat your affirmation.
I am confident.
Let's say that two more times.
Now the next two times we say it,
I'm not going to say mine,
But I want you to say yours out loud.
I am.
Taking a nice inhale and exhale.
One more time.
I am.
Just for the heck of it,
We're going to say it loud and proud.
I am.
Place both hands on your heart.
Keeping your eyes closed,
And just feel how that feels.
Sometimes feelings can feel overwhelming,
And I always say emotions are just energy in motion.
It's energy that's moving through us.
Sometimes anger or grief or sadness can feel like really moving and really heavy within us and like it wants somewhere to go,
Like through physical action when we're angry or tears when we're sad.
I want your feeling,
This good feeling,
To really move through you.
Placing both hands on your heart,
Maybe you're leaning back,
Maybe you stand up and put your hands both on your hips with your head up,
Totally owning this.
They call this a Superman pose.
When you stand up,
Your feet are at your hips,
Hips length,
And stand up,
Put your chin up,
Put both hands on your hips,
And totally own it.
I'm going to play the music for a few more minutes.
I invite you to listen to the music or keep writing in your journal.
You can open your eyes now and just write in your journal.
What are you ready for?
You are your own inspiration.
You are the guru.
You are the influencer.
There's many people that look up to you and see you in a certain light that maybe you don't even recognize.
We don't give ourselves enough credit.
You do not give yourself enough credit.
Maybe write down all of the compliments people have said to you since you were little.
Write down every single little thing.
Now I'm not talking about all the negative things that stick in our mind that people say about us because people have their own issues,
Hurt people hurt people.
That's a whole nother episode.
Today I want you to write down all of the compliments people have given you as small as they may seem.
Since I was little,
Everyone always said,
Angela is so calm.
I never thought being calm would be my superpower.
With now being a self-love coach and meditation instructor,
People have said my voice is so calm.
I never thought I would be doing what I'm doing now.
But everything leads and builds upon each other.
You have gifts.
You have talents.
And what you think might be your weakness,
Because believe me,
I always wanted to be that outgoing person.
But I wasn't.
I can be outgoing,
But mostly I'm this calm,
Just down to earth person.
That's my superpower.
You have your own superpower that's ready to shine a light.
This is your year to shine your light.
I invite you to listen to the music,
Into journal.
What are you ready for?
What is on your heart?
And if you need one more journal prompt,
I'll leave you with this.
At the end of this year,
December 31st,
What do you want to say that this year was all about for you?
I believe last year was a year of just leaning into ourselves,
Learning the lessons,
Finding patience within.
And this year is all about growth.
It's about action.
So by December 31st of this year,
Right before the new year rains,
What do you want to scream and yell proudly into the world that you did for you?
And lastly,
But not least.
