Transcript

This guided meditation is brought to you by Angela Marie Patnode,

Transformational Coach and Spiritual Teacher.

Begin by sitting in a comfortable position with your spine straight,

Your feet flat on the floor,

And your palms face up or face down or cupped or interlaced in the lap.

Your chin is level with the floor and your eyes are closed.

Let's start with a deep inhale in and slowly exhaling,

Relaxing into the chair or what you're sitting on.

And another deep inhale in and with the exhale relaxing the shoulders on the torso.

Letting the body relax into the earth.

And now let your breath naturally breathe in and breathe out without any control of the breath.

Bringing your awareness to the top of the head,

Relaxing the face and the jaw.

Relaxing the neck and the shoulders,

Relaxing the spine and the hips,

Softening the knees and the feet.

Bring your awareness to the breath,

Noticing the inhale and the exhale through the nose,

The sensation of the inhale and the sensation of the exhale.

And when the mind wanders and you notice,

Bring the awareness back to the breath with kindness and compassion.

As the breath moves in and the breath moves out,

Coming into presence with this sensation in the body.

And now imagine yourself along the shoreline of a beautiful river and you get into this little boat that is sitting by the side of the river and you don't know where this boat is going.

It's a small boat with oars on it and you climb in by yourself and you begin to row the boat,

Steering it down this beautiful,

Stunning river.

The sun is shining on your face.

And as you float down you reflect on your life and you,

More specifically,

The things that aren't serving you anymore.

Maybe it's a belief or a fear,

A judgment of yourself,

A judgment of others,

Something you wish should be but isn't,

A way of being that isn't serving you anymore.

And you decide that you want to leave this on the shore.

You want to take this weight off the boat and leave it on the shore and you pull up to the side of the river.

There's a little sand bank and you pull the boat up to the sand bank and you take out these things that want to be left behind.

Maybe it's just one thing,

Maybe it's more.

But pick just the one or two most prominent things that are coming to your mind and imagine lifting those out of the boat and putting them onto the shore.

And you feel a sense of relief as you put those onto the shore.

And you climb back in the boat and you begin to row further downstream and you see these beautiful cottonwood trees that are swaying.

And you come across and around this corner and all of a sudden you look up and there's a bald eagle in the cottonwood above you.

And in seeing this bird you realize the vastness of what you are and what's possible in your life and the miracle that surrounds you.

You continue floating down the river,

The sunshine,

And your skin and the warmth that you feel from it.

The ripple of the water under your feet that runs under the boat,

The water that's carrying you.

And as you feel the support from Mother Earth you also know that by stating what it is you want to create in this coming year,

That Mother Earth will support you in this.

She will carry you along the way and help show you how to create this.

If there was one thing that you would most want to create in your life,

An intention,

An aim that guides your action,

Then perhaps it's a way of being,

To be more aware,

More open-hearted,

More loving,

More kind with yourself and compassionate with yourself and others.

Maybe it's to become closer with your family or connected with friends in your life or break through a fear,

Cultivate courage to take a step that you've been wanting to take or to trust your intuition more,

That inner voice.

Let yourself see and hear what percolates to the surface as you're floating this river.

You look up again into the trees,

The cottonwood trees that you're passing and you see a large osprey nest and you ask the osprey to take your intention and fly with that intention as far as it needs to go so that all beings are witness to the intention and you feel the lightness of that intention lifting into the air,

Into the sky with this majestic bird taking the intention and carrying it for you and supporting you in it.

You know this feels right in every cell of your body.

You continue floating down the stream until you see this little alcove and you know this is the place where you can stop and get out and you gently pull to shore with ease because you feel lighter now.

You have a purpose to your step.

You gently climb out of the boat,

Begin to walk up the shore,

Past the willows,

Out into the meadow where you hear the song birds singing and the sun is beginning to set and you know that this is a new day and a new start.

Bring your awareness back to your breath and noticing the inhale and the exhale,

Noticing the rise and the fall of the belly,

Beginning to wiggle the fingers and the toes,

Noticing any sounds around you in the room coming back into your body and when you're ready gently opening your gaze.
