Welcome to day two of the breath by breath meditation journey.
Today's practice is called breath by breath I am energized.
You'll be working with your breath during this practice to increase your vitality,
Increase your energy,
And increase the feeling that you are filled up and ready for your day.
So please come into a comfortable seat.
Feel free to close your eyes and know that if sitting doesn't work for you,
Lie down,
Make yourself comfortable and begin to turn your attention inward.
And notice your breath.
And to signify the official beginning of this meditation,
Take a deep breath in through your nose.
Relax your jaw side out through an open mouth.
Do that again,
Breathing in deeply through your nose.
Exhaling,
Letting go completely.
And one more time,
Deep breath in.
Complete breath out.
Arriving fully here in this moment for today's practice.
And then just begin to witness the natural flow of your breath.
If possible,
Just breathing in through the nose and out through the nose.
And following the breath down into your body.
Letting your body become a relaxed container for the breath.
And feeling how the breath is generating gentle movement inside of you.
Checking in with your shoulders and just letting them release.
Softening across the surface of your face.
Letting your belly relax.
Noticing how it expands as you breathe in and how your belly releases as you breathe out.
And lastly,
Just touch in to whatever is beneath you.
And on your next exhalation,
See if you can let go a little bit more,
Let your whole body really release into the support beneath you.
Now coming back to your breath.
And we're going to begin to focus specifically upon the inhalation and working on lengthening out the inhalation.
By doing so,
We're naturally going to begin to increase and build energy within.
This is a super simple practice that effectively will help you feel more vitality,
More energy to take with you into the rest of your day.
So as you breathe in,
See if you can allow your inhalation to stretch out just a little bit longer.
And then breathe out naturally.
So there's nothing that you need to do with the exhalation except allow it to release.
And then as you breathe in,
Through the nose,
Again,
Just see if you can take the inhalation in all the way to the very top like you're filling your lungs up to their full capacity.
And then again,
Just naturally let your exhalation leave the body.
And continue in this way,
Just breathing in,
Focusing upon your inhalation.
Imagining you're filling your lungs up to the very top with fresh oxygen.
And then just letting go easily and effortlessly through the exhalation.
As you stay focused on your inhalations,
Stretching them out,
See if you can do so without creating any excess stress or strain in your system.
Breathing in to an amount that still feels easeful for you.
Continuing in this way,
Breathing in,
Filling up your lungs.
Breathing out easily,
Effortlessly.
And if you'd like to take this breathing practice just a step further,
Making it a little bit more potent,
And allowing yourself to build even more energy within.
At the top of your inhalation,
You're going to hold your breath just for a moment.
You may already actually be doing this,
But now we're going to include that in our awareness.
So you'll breathe in,
Again,
Feeling your chest expand,
Feeling your lungs fill all the way up with fresh oxygen.
At the very top of your inhale,
Just pause for a moment,
Suspending the breath.
And then again,
Just let go,
Breathe out easily,
Naturally.
And repeating that three to five more times.
Breathing in,
Feeling that you reach the very top of the inhalation,
Pause for a moment or two,
Holding the breath,
And then let it go.
Breathe out.
Good.
Take one more of those energizing breaths,
Feeling your whole body being flushed with fresh oxygen.
And then let go of that focus on your inhalations,
And just let your breath balance out.
Let your breath come back into its own easy rhythm.
And notice how you feel.
Can you sense that you have a little bit more energy within now?
Maybe you feel a tingling or a buzzing inside of you,
An increased sense of vitality.
This vitality can be felt physically,
But also mentally.
What is your state of mind like after breathing in this way?
How do you feel emotionally?
Let's seal in this fresh energy that you just cultivated by taking one or both hands and just resting them right over your chest,
Connecting to your own heart,
Connecting to your lungs that allow you to draw in this energy and oxygen.
And take one last deep breath in through the nose in gratitude,
And just sigh it out through an open mouth.
The simple breathing practice of extending your inhalations can be done anytime,
Anywhere,
When you need a boost of energy.
Please bring it with you into whatever is next,
And have a beautiful rest of your day.
