Hi,
Welcome to your sacred verse.
This piece is a meditation on breath,
Presence,
And the quiet strength that comes from sitting with our inner chaos.
It speaks to the real life power of mindfulness,
Not just on the cushion,
But in the heart of family life and in the heat of emotional storms.
I invite you to sit back,
Close your eyes,
And let these words steady your breath and anchor you right here,
Right now.
It's simple,
Not easy,
To sit and watch my breath.
Inhale then exhale.
Thoughts arise from the depth of my dark inner world,
Not negative,
Not illuminated.
Rising like bubbles trapped and then liberated.
My silence sets them free,
But then silence disappears into a myriad of thinking,
Cacophony between my ears.
Breath in the forefront,
Chaos right behind it.
Both exist together as I continue to sit.
Then chaos comes up front and the breath flies out the window.
I'm lost for a moment,
Tangled up in my shadow.
And my breath is my life,
So it never goes far.
It's back in a moment,
Driving the car.
I'm still as I sit,
Despite the movement within.
The longer I stay,
Silence settles beneath my skin.
And I come to know the feeling of thoughtless silence,
Gently penetrating the chaos in pattern interrupting defiance.
I know in my bones the breath is the road to follow with reverence so that peace is bestowed.
The blessing of this is off the meditation seat and in the room with the kids with rising emotional heat.
As the waves rise and fall,
I'm even and centered.
Chaos around me,
My temperament anchored.
And the inner peace revealed within my own inner mess,
So I may soothe my sweet girls and relieve their outer stress.
I become a lighthouse who radiates peace and calm for my household and my family,
And especially for those who call me mom.
