What is anxiety?
It's often something we immediately label as bad.
Terrible,
Making my life so much harder.
I needed to get out.
It has no place here.
But.
.
.
Anxiety is actually a protector and it's something that the mind and the body use to keep us safe from either real threats or sometimes imagined ones.
But it's the mind and body using the knowledge that it's gained from the senses from past experiences to keep you protected and safe.
And that's why anxiety isn't just in the mind.
You feel it throughout the body.
It's the mind and body working together.
So muscles can tighten,
Things can clench,
Your heartbeat can raise,
You can get sweaty.
It's very much a both mind and body response.
That's why.
Knowing that anxiety is this protector is really helpful because instead of fighting it away and shooing it away we can collaborate with it.
And the higher part of yourself that knows everything is safe,
We can talk to the anxiety and let it know,
Hey,
I've got everything under control.
I will listen to you.
You have kept me safe so many times before.
Let's talk it out.
Let's get on the same page.
