Embodiment is taking your practice into your physical body and not just in the mind or spirit. This is how we reactivate the energy centers in our body with life force, reclaiming our bodies as sacred instruments for pleasure. Purpose. Passion. In this 40 minute guided practice Alexandra will use breath and sound as tools for emotional processing, clearing away of stagnant energy, helping you come into your heart, and drop out of your head. This is a great compliment to a meditation practice that quiets your body and energy. This practice will ENLIVEN you, awaken you, and help you feel your feelings.

Welcome to embodying your feminine fire.

To begin,

Find a really quiet place that you feel really safe,

A door you can close,

Turn the ringer off your phone.

You might want to have a yoga mat on the floor or you might want to lay on your bed.

Truly some place that you feel very comfortable.

So when we go into embodiment practice,

There are several different positions that you can get your body into as we begin.

So if you lay down in traditional Shavasana,

That's called corpse pose for a reason.

Corpse pose doesn't really let a lot of energy flow through your body.

It's a very quiet pose energetically speaking.

So when we do embodiment work,

We're really opening the energy in your body,

That creative life force energy,

Your sexual energy,

Your creative energy.

And so we want to be in a position where that energy can really flow through you.

So one of my favorite positions is laying down with my knees up.

With my knees up,

I can gently tilt my pelvis and I can allow for a little bit of movement while still being really comfortable on the floor.

That way a little bit of more energy runs through my legs and into my pelvis.

My other favorite position to do embodiment work in is on my hands and my knees.

I don't get on my hands and my knees though in like a cat cow asana way.

I kind of have my bum tucked on my knees and my hands in front like I'm a little cat ready to pounce.

And I really love that position.

It allows me for a little bit of motion and I can roll my hips as I go.

And I can get more on my hands and knees when I want to but then again come back to having my knees on the ground as if I was about to go into child's pose honestly.

So it's like as if I was about to go into child's pose and stretch my arms out but instead my hands are kind of in front of me,

Propping me up.

It can kind of look like you're going to do a floor dance and kind of roll your hips.

So that position feels really good to me as well.

Some people do like to just be on their hands and knees like literally in that kind of cat cow position.

So I would recommend starting on your back with your knees up,

Feet on the ground.

You can put a little blanket or pillow under your head.

And then as we move through the practice,

If you feel inclined to move into a different position then by all means you can.

So to begin,

Getting into the position and laying on your back.

Our first objective in this space is simply to soften and open.

We do traditional seated meditation practice.

It becomes a more disembodied practice.

In that practice,

It's not really about softening into the human experience and into the body.

It's about really transcending and rising in a sense above the thoughts,

About the stories,

About the feelings.

In embodiment,

You're really allowed to feel all your feelings.

So just note that in this practice,

Any feeling that comes up is actually golden.

It's beautiful.

It's divine.

And it's welcome in the practice.

What we want to do is unearth the feelings that we don't really have time to feel throughout the week.

As we're busy at work,

We don't really get to let all of the feelings move through us and they create little calcified pockets in our system.

They create little veils over our heart and our radiance.

Our eyes become duller.

And we lose a bit of that beautiful feminine magnetism that we want to really let move through us in the world.

And that's why,

If you know me,

That I always love to take a photo after I cry to sort of show you guys how tears are such a beautiful practice in opening and softening back into my essence.

They literally melt off a layer of crap that's built on me from the world.

So if tears come,

If coughing comes,

If sneezing comes,

Any type of physical body reaction is actually warranted and wanted to do not step it away.

Let it come and actually welcome it.

You really want an embodiment practice to welcome tears,

Welcome growls,

Welcome crying loud sobbing,

Ugly crying,

Anything.

You really want to welcome it into the space.

You're literally softening yourself from the inside out.

So begin to take a few deep breaths into your belly.

I want you to put your right hand on your heart and your left hand on your lower belly.

And you can put your pinky finger at the top of your pubic bone.

So just feel where that pubic bone is.

You really should have this triangle between your two hips and your pubic bone that you're very aware of.

It's like where you can kind of tilt and move,

This little power triangle.

And later when we do any type of seated meditation,

You always want to have that triangle in some sort of alignment.

So just making sure that your hand is on your lower belly and that your pinky is all the way down near your pubic bone.

Want you to start breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth.

And this hand should be moving up and down on your lower belly now.

So as you breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.

And in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Really letting that belly begin to rise and fall under your hand.

If your belly is super taut,

This might be difficult for you and your belly might not be moving a lot.

I want you to really try to soften it and open it and each time you do this practice,

I want you to notice how the muscles have gained elasticity and how you're creating more space in this lower part of your body for more power,

More creative life force energy,

More flow.

This part of your body,

Your pelvis,

Truly is a gateway to the divine.

It's where a soul enters your body if you choose.

It's where creative life force energy comes through you.

It's the seat of the Kundalini energy.

So we want to woo this energy center back to life and let the energy moving through this energy center come up through the spine and begin to melt open the energy in the heart so that energy can come up through the throat and be translated out through words,

Through your eyes,

Through your brilliant ideas.

So continue breathing into this left hand,

Breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth.

You should be sighing out through your mouth with big belly breaths.

So in,

Out,

And in,

And out.

You can add some sound to that sigh.

In this practice,

The only thing you have to do is follow what feels good,

What feels nourishing to your system.

So the other thing,

The other thing that I want you to focus on in this moment is softening your jaw.

I want you to soften your jaw and take your hands and give your jaw a little massage and I want you to make some sounds as you do it like,

Whatever sounds want to roll out of you as you soften your jaw.

Your jaw is this tremendous gateway of emotion.

We hold so many emotions in our jaws.

Truly if you think about all of the words unspoken that get caught there,

All the times we clench something down or hold it in that literally tenses the jaw.

So daily jaw massages for yourself and making sure you're not clenching your jaw throughout the day.

Softening that jaw open in a moment when you're looking into your beloved's eyes or your best friend's eyes or your child's eyes can really change everything.

Softening the belly and the jaw in those moments.

They will feel you in a whole different level and your beautiful radiant heart can shine through so brightly if you do that.

So coming back to the breath now,

As you now have this soft open jaw,

Breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth and in through the nose and out through the mouth.

Just focusing for a moment on that breath and really surrendering into it.

I want it to become just so natural for you in this moment that it's just getting into a rhythm and letting that rhythm flow now.

So breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth and you can give it a sigh if that feels really good.

You can give it a whimper.

This is your space to have full permission to be you,

To unleash every little bit of you that you don't have space to do in the world.

You don't have space to be in the world.

So if anything about this moment is not giving you full permission,

Then do what you need to do,

Whether it's lock the door or anything.

I want you to feel like you can truly let go.

So breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth and really and noticing what is happening just by these deep breaths in your body.

I want them to become even deeper,

Even more rhythmic.

Your hand should be rising and falling.

Your belly should be rising and falling.

Your hand should be rising and falling.

They should be doing this stance so that if you were to put a book on your lower belly,

It would be moving.

So breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth again and again and again here each time,

Seeing if you can let go of something,

Let go of a layer that's been just holding you down or holding you back.

And you might be like,

Nothing's happening.

And usually for me when I can't feel and it takes a while,

It's because there's a lot of hardness that's settled onto my heart and my belly and my pelvis.

And that means that I have to really challenge myself to let go.

And I really do that usually by making a little bit of sound.

So for the first,

Our first element is breath before we get into sound.

I want you to really feel like you've gotten into the breath fully.

So I want you to keep going in through your nose and out through your mouth and in through your nose and out through your mouth and in through your nose and out through your mouth and really letting that breath fill you.

I want the breath to fill you from your toes all the way up to your crown.

Literally each breath fills you deeply.

Each breath softens a layer,

A layer of stress,

A layer of chaos,

A layer of fear that is just seated itself in your being.

Right now you're letting that go.

So let each big deep belly breath open you,

Soften you from the inside as if the breath was coming in,

Was creating this beautiful wild vacuum through your system,

Clearing you of all of the pain and hardness,

Beginning to melt it coming in like this giant force melting everything from the inside out,

Breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Your eyes should be closed during this process and if at times you want to open them for a moment that's fine,

But this is really an inward process.

This is you coming home to you,

Coming home to your body,

Coming home to your heart,

Coming home to your pelvis,

Your yoni,

Your pussy,

Your womb,

Your lower chakras as well as your higher ones,

But starting from the bottom and going up.

So this process you don't want to have distractions.

This is you and you.

Each breath should bring you home to yourself.

Each breath should be reuniting you with a part of your body that maybe you've had to disconnect from during the week and you forgot what it felt like.

Eventually you'll be able to feel into the subtleties of your cervix and you can hear messages from that place which is quite an amazing place.

The same with your heart.

The longer that you do embodiment work every day you begin to have this beautiful dialogue with your cervix and your heart and you learn to really translate them in your work and the world.

I don't mean just work as a writer and artist but your work being an amazing woman.

That is your work.

So keep breathing now.

A little bit deeper now.

Just really letting yourself drop into the breath.

If there's a point where you're like I don't want to do any more breathing that's usually where a breakthrough is about to happen.

So breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth.

The point where you feel the tension is the point where there's always something amazing that's going to happen and this is often in life.

The point where we really say fuck it.

Sometimes it's the time to walk away.

Sometimes it's the time to go deeper.

In this practice since this is our beautiful safe space it's time to go deeper.

So breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth.

And taking a few more deep breaths here we're going to now add the second element to our practice.

So breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth.

And taking a few more deep breaths here we're going to now add the third element to our practice.

So breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth.

So we're going to add the second element to our practice which is sound.

So the first element to our embodiment work is breath.

If you feel like you need more time for the breath you can always pause this,

Turn on some music and do your embodied belly breath work for a little bit longer.

You can do it for as long as you'd like.

If you've never done breath work before just note that you might get tetany which is when your hands turn into like little crap claws which is basically they get into this kind of tense position.

You might feel like your hands go numb.

That's okay.

They're not going to stay like that forever I promise.

Just breathe.

It might give you a little anxiety like why are my hands being funky?

Really there's just energy releasing and the arms are still connected to the heart.

So likely there's energy releasing from your heart's stagnant energy.

So if anything comes up like that during the breath work maybe your face feels a little tingly or numb.

That's okay.

You're okay.

So if you need to do a little bit more breath feel free to pause this now.

But now we'll be moving on.

But now we'll be moving on to sound.

Sound is one of the best ways to drop into our embodiment.

Sound creates a vibration in the body and literally connects ourselves.

Connects us to life force energy.

Connects us to light.

So if you've never heard of the book Hidden Messages in Water,

Highly recommend it.

In the book there's experiments done where scientists spoke to water in loving tones and in harsh tones in the particles and the water rearranged from beautiful crystal and looking snowflakes when they were speaking to the water kindly to really harsh disjointed looking shapes when they spoke to the water in harsh tones.

So as humans we are made up of a lot of water.

So if your thoughts or your actual words are sending those harmful messages to yourself you're literally creating an environment inside of your cells and the molecules inside of you that is harsh and disjointed on the cellular level on the molecular level.

So if we look at vibration and sound as really a way to create inner beauty,

Really a way to get into this human body to love it,

To speak lovingly to it,

To express it in all of its joy or fire,

Anger,

Rage,

Sadness,

Whatever it is.

This is what the power of sound can do and that's why mantras are so powerful and they have been for thousands of years because they hold vibrational forces and fields that are very healing and protective of many things.

So in this moment I want you to come back to your breath,

Breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Now I want you to add actual sound on the exhale before we were adding a sigh.

Now I want you to add actual sound.

Now if you're not in a place where you can make sound I want you to do this practice in a place where you could actually scream if you needed to.

Often I scream in embodiment if you've ever been to one of my live workshops.

Women are screaming in the room,

Screaming,

Crying,

Emoting,

Expressing and I want you to feel completely safe right now to do that.

So yeah you might have roomies or neighbors do this at a time where you have privacy.

So in your next breath breathing in and out with the actual sound.

Whatever your sound sounds like it doesn't have to sound like my sound.

You want to just get into this flow where you're letting sound move through your exhale.

You might have a sound that sounds silly,

That sounds embarrassing.

We really need to leave self-consciousness to the wayside while we do this practice.

Making sure you're still in the same comfortable position with your knees up,

Laying back or if you decided to be kind of on your hands and knees.

I want you to really get into the sound.

This isn't make a few sounds and then check it off the list.

This is you have to get into the flow where you forget you're even doing it because you're having so much fun because it feels so fucking good.

That's what I want you to get into.

So breathing in through your nose and the next exhale I want you to really give it sound.

Whatever sound comes through you sometimes I have these sort of dragon sounds,

Sometimes I hiss,

Sometimes I moan.

I want you to let whatever needs to come out,

Come out.

This is a space where you make the sounds that you don't have time to in the world that you can't make in front of your boss or your child.

They need to come out of you so that they don't cause disease or little pain in your body.

That you don't internalize them and they create hardness and cut you off from your life experience.

So now it's time to express them.

So each sound should literally create an opening into your heart.

So breathing into your nose and out through your mouth.

You might feel like a silly little child and that's fine.

But I want you to get into the rhythm with this sound.

Letting it come out through you.

All of the hidden passions that you don't get to express every day.

All of the hidden sorrows.

All of the hidden ecstasies should be moving through you with this sound.

And if you can't feel it go deeper.

This is a space to release,

To let go.

Each sound brings you back into your body.

It doesn't have to be a beautiful sound.

It can be a gross sound.

It can be a messy sound.

It can be an embarrassing sound.

It can be a sad sound.

It can be a weak sound.

The point is that we get out of the head in this process.

If you're in your head you're not embodied.

You're not in the embodiment work and that's okay.

You can do this again and again until you don't spend the whole practice in your head.

The best way to leave that when you're in this practice is to take a belly breath,

Make a sound and come back into the body.

Each thought that comes up,

Let it pass,

Don't hold onto it.

The mind is literally trying to prevent you from coming into this deep juicy opening because it's scary,

Because it's odd and uncharted territory in the body.

Many,

Many of us live in the mind because it's a safe,

Seemingly safe space where the body is full of roller coasters of emotions and ecstatic joys,

Bliss and sadness.

So if we're not skilled we could get lost in there.

At least that's what the mind thinks.

When you know you have a practice,

You're not going to get lost in your feelings,

I'm going to bring you right back.

You have to drop into them now.

If you're still thinking,

Oh what am I going to do later?

Oh did so and so text me?

Then you're not embodied.

It's okay,

It will be hard on yourself.

But I want you to ask yourself to go deeper.

When we're embodied we literally have no thoughts.

We just feel.

So breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Ahhhhhhhhhh In each sound you should be able to feel that sound I just made.

I could feel it reverberating through my cervix,

Through my pussy,

My hips and my eyes.

Literally invigorating,

Enlivening me so that as I walk through the world now I am more deeply connected to myself.

I can make decisions from depth.

I can smile at people from depth.

And I'm not just in this surface mind space.

People know when you're just talking to them and you're just in your mind.

Chatter,

Chatter,

Chatter.

Or they know when you're deeply present.

I want you to walk through the world deeply present.

Deeply offering your presence to every human who you deem is worthy of it.

Not everybody is,

That's okay.

You don't want to just go around giving your magic to everybody.

But I want you to know how it's going to be when you stand across from your mother,

From your child,

From your best friend.

Give them your full,

Full presence.

Bring it to your nose and out of your mouth with a sound.

I have a long breath,

I have a lot of capacity for breath because I do a lot of breath work.

And it feels really good to allow the sound all the way until your breath is done.

If you don't have as deep a lung capacity,

Just keep doing this work for a while and you will.

So I want you to keep making sound and I want you to push yourself now to release anything in any way.

Sadness,

Grief,

Anger,

Rage,

Laughter.

And you might have to fake it till you make it.

You should be breathing.

I'm not telling you to breathe every second here.

You should be breathing.

That is the backbone of this practice.

So if you've stopped breathing and you've stopped practicing,

That's okay.

Just keep the belly breath because we're layering on elements.

So we have the belly breath and now we're layering on sound.

It doesn't mean that we stop in the belly breath.

So breathing in and allowing sound.

Breathing in and then we exhale,

Allowing sound.

And you might have to fake it till you make it.

You might have to actually make a sound that doesn't feel authentic at first.

Just try it.

Try it.

See if you can find something that feels authentic.

It might not feel natural because you just don't give yourself the space in life to break free,

To break loose,

To be wild,

To be a disgusting ragged,

To be an angry lioness,

To be a blubbering fool crying.

If you don't give yourself that space,

It could feel really like,

What am I doing?

I don't really feel like crying.

I don't really feel like yelling.

I don't really feel like making a sound.

That's just your mind preventing you from this beautiful experience.

That's just your mind preventing you from dropping into this beautiful experience of the body.

Ecstasy and bliss occur in the body,

Not the mind.

The mind can bring about intellectual pleasures for sure,

But nothing feels like the ecstatic bliss that's available in the body.

So this practice we are going to end with this element of sound.

The next practice we'll be adding in movement.

Before this practice,

I want you to spend the next three minutes in your breath and sound.

Really breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth with the sound.

I want you to try different sounds and just play with them.

I want you to see what you can let come up.

If emotions are coming up,

That means that you're doing it.

It means that your body is releasing.

If you're still stuck in your head,

That's okay.

I want that belly to be moving up and down,

Up and down,

Up and down.

I don't want sounds to be coming up.

I want you to hiss.

I want you to make sounds of sobs.

I want you to grow.

I want you to just try things.

You're literally connecting your second chakra to your third chakra.

And you're paving and you're opening this channel in between them.

It's been really epic.

One of my best friends once said to me,

I said,

Wow,

How do you sing so beautifully?

She's a Broadway singer.

She's in opera.

And she said,

I sing from my pussy.

Literally,

The power of your voice comes from so deep within.

That's what you're playing with right now.

So breathe in.

And out.

With each breath,

You can imagine that it's literally creating this beautiful line between your womb and your cervix and your thumb.

Entering into the world.

Flourishing,

Exfoliating you inside energetically.

Softening any bits of hardening there.

So you can do this practice for as long as you want.

To me,

I usually know that a Godhead would have had a deep emotional release.

If you've yet to have an emotional release,

It's okay.

If it's your first time,

It's okay.

You don't necessarily need to have it goal-oriented and every time it's different.

So sometimes you might not,

Depending on where you are in your cycle,

Depending on just where your mental space is.

But usually for me,

I like to get a good cry out.

And it really just softens me.

But if I've been holding onto anger,

It could be that I have to get out some screams and growls and that turns into a cry.

Whatever it is,

Don't judge it.

You don't need to think,

Oh shit,

What is this about?

It's not about anything.

And the mind just wants to add a story onto it.

It's not about that at all.

If you try to figure out what you're crying about or screaming about,

Honey,

There are hundreds of thousands of years worth of internalized karma and oppression in your body.

You don't need to try to figure out which thing it is that's coming out.

Just let it out.

So for this practice,

Just keep on breathing for a little while longer.

You can actually,

Even when the practice is done,

You can keep doing this until you feel complete.

You can put on your favorite playlist,

Your favorite emotional,

Juicy,

Deep song,

And just do more breath with it.

When you feel complete,

When you feel softened,

When you feel like you've let go of some things,

I want you to go and look at yourself in the mirror and see your eyes.

Notice your face.

Do you look different?

Have you softened?

Is there more radiance moving through you?

Less fear,

Less insecurity,

Less self-consciousness.

Just notice that,

The power of being embodied.

Feel,

Do you feel more?

More just to tell them in yourself,

In your heart?

Just notice for the rest of the day or the evening if things are impacting you in a different way.

Maybe you're more open to the night air on your face.

Maybe you're able to hug someone you love in a slightly more involved and available way.

Just notice this.

It's a beautiful thing to notice how our practice really changes how we are in the world,

How we look,

How we feel,

How we act towards others.

So you can come back to this anytime you want,

Again and again and again.

To close out your practice,

Just take a few breaths.

You don't have to be deep belly long.

Put both hands in your heart.

If you've had a little cry,

You can wipe away your tears.

You can give yourself a little hug.

You can roll onto your side in a fetal position.

Just lay there until you feel like it's time to sit up.

And remember,

If you need to go repeat this,

That the belly breath is the backbone and then you just add sound.

And that's it for our first practice.

Thank you so much for joining me.

Thank you.

Thank you.
