Today's meditation is a meditation of noticing.
As we begin,
Find a spot that feels comfortable and as you take some deep breaths and you slow down,
Just look around.
Notice your surroundings.
Reflect on Cole Arthur Riley's words,
More than the grand beauties of our lives,
Wonder is about having the presence to pay attention to the common place.
To the common place.
What mundane objects around you might carry hidden beauty?
Maybe it's the glint of light on a glass or the pattern of rain on a window.
Maybe you feel the breeze.
As you observe these ordinary wonders,
Focus on your senses.
What do you see with the miraculous eyes God has given you?
What do you hear?
What do you feel?
What do you smell?
How do these small observations affect your mood or your thoughts?
Today make it a point to notice and appreciate these small beauties.
To have a sense of wonder.
To notice and let each discovery be a moment of small joy,
A connection to God.
Today carry with you this mantra,
I behold the beautiful in the mundane.
It's a way to remind yourself to continually look for the sacred in the everyday.
So internally say this with me,
I behold the beautiful in the mundane.
