“We have not because we ask not.” James 4:2. This is a short meditation to teach and remind us to ask God for what we need while learning to listen quietly for his presence. Whether we realize it or not, God is whispering and speaking. We simply have to practice listening to his still, small voice. This meditation is part 3 of a 15-day series of short meditations helping one become more "Re-Enchanted" with their existence.

Settle into a quiet space.

If you're able,

Close your eyes,

Slow your breath,

Prepare to engage in a conversation with the divine.

Reflect on the phrase,

We have not because we ask not.

Picture what you need guidance for in your life right now and take a moment to ask the spirit of God openly and honestly.

Now after asking,

Let's transition into silence and as you do,

Focus on your breath and be still and be open to any feelings,

Thoughts,

Or words that come to you.

This is listening,

Something we often have a hard time with in our culture.

So listen now.

Notice the calmness that comes with silence,

The space between your thoughts,

How your body feels when you quiet your mind to listen.

So throughout your day,

Practice this,

Ask and listen.

So repeat the mantra right now and throughout the day,

Speak,

Show me,

I am listening.

Speak,

Show me,

I am listening.
