"Be still and know that I am God." How do you think your awareness of God's presence would change if you were able to be still and quiet more often? This is a short meditation to help you practice a moment of stillness and connection. Begin today by turning off or silencing your digital devices and any other potential distractions.

Sit in a place where you feel at ease and take a couple of deep breaths.

Reflect on these ancient words,

Be still and know that I am God.

Knowing God apparently is easier through the act of being still.

Think about what typically distracts you the most and how it impacts your spiritual and mental well-being.

Right now notice the effects of silence on your body.

How does your environment change when it's quieter?

What do you hear that you usually overlook?

How do you think your awareness of God's presence would change if you are able to be still and quiet?

So for the rest of this week,

Plan short periods throughout your day where you consciously decide to unplug from all electronic devices and distractions.

Use these times for reflection,

Reading,

Or simply being.

And as a reminder,

To regularly disconnect from the chaos around you,

You can use this mantra,

In silence I connect.

Internally say this again.

The first phrase as you inhale,

The second as you exhale.

In silence,

One more time,

In silence I connect.

May you go into the rest of your day with a still and attentive heart.
