A moment of gratitude,
The internet.
The coronavirus lockdown is a strange time for everyone.
The thing I have chosen to be grateful for today is the internet.
I know that our relationship with the internet can be a love-hate one and at the moment this may be even more so with news overload,
Fake news and people telling us how much they have apparently achieved during their lockdown time.
But our gratitude today is about the connection we have thanks to the internet.
Whilst we cannot go and see family and friends,
We can use video calling and apps like Zoom to see people,
Have conversations and share experiences.
The other night I organised an online quiz with my family.
It was so much fun and honestly I haven't laughed that much in a long time.
It inspired my sister to host the next one and my husband to organise one with his work colleagues who he hasn't seen in weeks.
For the camera shy,
The internet allows us to send text-based messages and I have kept in touch with some of my friends like this.
We can send photos,
Share jokes or simply just check in and make sure everyone is okay.
We can choose how much we use the internet and we can choose how we use it.
But today think about the good things it can offer,
Especially at this challenging time of social distancing.
Today be grateful for the connections it allows us.
