This is a short practice designed to help you slow down and have a moment to yourself before the busyness of the day takes hold.
Often when we're busy,
Moving from one thing to the next,
Our bodies start to tense up.
Taking a moment to slow down and soften can help you feel more present and at ease.
Let's begin.
Start by bringing your attention to the soles of your feet.
Notice the points of contact with the floor beneath you.
Slowly move your attention up your legs to your torso.
Feeling the subtle rhythm of your breath,
The expansion as you inhale and the contraction as you exhale.
As you continue to move your awareness up your torso,
Allow your collarbones to broaden.
Soften your shoulder blades down your back and let your arms hang loose by your side.
Can you notice any sensations in your hands?
Maybe there's a slight tingling or you might notice the temperature.
Are they warm or cool?
There's no right or wrong,
Simply notice what you feel.
Bring your attention to the top of your head and as you do that,
See if you can pay close attention to what sensations are present.
Slowly move your awareness down your temples,
Across your forehead as you soften the space between your eyebrows.
Allow your lips to close gently,
Feel your lower jaw slip away from your upper jaw and the muscles of your cheeks relax a bit more.
Start to bring your whole body into your awareness,
From the top of your head to the soles of your feet.
Just present with any sensations,
Any movement of breath coming in and out.
When you're ready,
Let's finish with a deep breath.
Take a slow,
Steady inhale through your nose and as you open your mouth,
Feel your whole body soften as you exhale.
Thanks for practicing with me today.
You can come back to this practice anytime you need a moment to slow down in your day.
See you again next time.
