Welcome to a heart-centered meditation.
This meditation guides you into the very depth of the interior space of your heart,
Into the secret heart,
As it's sometimes called in yogic terms.
You can imagine a place beyond comprehension and that very much transcends any reference of language that we may use to describe the truly present and feeling realm of the heart.
Please begin by assuming a comfortable seated position and begin your session with soft,
Slow strokes of breath,
Settling into the weight of your bones.
Relax your jaw,
Relax your tongue and your throat,
And then gently bringing your awareness into the center space of your heart.
See if you can become aware of the outside surface of your anatomical heart,
The side that faces outward toward the world,
And in doing so,
Recall any events within the last several hours,
Days or weeks that have made an impact on your emotional being and the way that you receive the world.
Make a note of the events or people that form the constellation of your felt experience in this outer surrounding,
This outer space of your heart.
Take your time,
Just allowing the images and feelings and sensations to come and arise.
You don't need to look for any,
Just see what arises in the space of your mind,
In the field of your experience,
Staying deeply connected to the gentle flow of your breathing,
And then bringing your awareness to the inner space of your heart,
Inside the wall of your anatomical heart,
And see if you can notice how any outside circumstances may affect your breathing,
May affect your heart rate,
Your brain waves,
The way that you experience your thoughts,
And possibly any electrical signals or sensations within your nervous system on a more somatic level,
Observing any feelings of pain,
Sensations of body temperature,
Pulsation,
Tingling,
These sensations very well may reflect any emotional states of judgment,
Even humiliation rejection,
Shame,
Irritation,
Intolerance.
Notice how there may be these traces of feelings left in your body from events or personal relationships that have occurred in your life,
And be very patient and accepting while practicing a non-judgmental awareness towards these experiences,
Staying deeply connected to your breathing,
And then finally bringing your awareness to the deepest space that you can fathom inside your heart,
The side that faces inwards towards your spine.
This is the secret heart,
And this space and experience of your heart is outside of any circumstances,
Causes,
Or conditions in your environment.
This place is secret and completely impermeable by anything outside of you.
Maybe you can conjure any feelings of space and lightness in this innermost recess of your heart,
And maybe it feels a little hidden or empty or heavy,
And really attempting to avoid any identification or make any cognitive sense of your experience.
Just allow it to be in exactly the way that it experiences itself,
Allowing your awareness to be undistracted,
Allowing yourself to be absorbed into the secret space at your heart and into the silence and quietude it brings.
This realm of your experience is completely uncontaminated by bias,
Interpretation,
Or judgment.
It's completely free,
Liberated,
Authentic,
And true,
Resting your awareness in this unspeakable and truly vast realm of your innermost experience,
And really focusing on the inner sensations,
The internal experience of yourself,
Resting into this innermost recess of your own experience of your heart and of your feeling body,
Staying deeply connected to your breathing,
And whenever you're ready,
Take a moment to center and ground into this felt experience,
And then gently closing your practice.
Namaste.
