Namaste.
Welcome to this guided meditation.
Where we shall invoke the grace of Ganesha,
The lord of auspicious beginnings and remover of obstacles.
Begin by seating yourself comfortably on a chain with your feet planted firmly upon the ground.
Or in a comfortable meditative posture.
Keep your spine straight.
Get relaxed.
Gently close your eyes.
And take a full,
Deep breath in.
As you breathe out,
Let go of all the thoughts and ideas running around in your head.
Breathe out.
And breathe out completely.
Now.
Begin to breathe in a slow,
And effortless manner.
And with each exhalation,
Let your body soften.
And good night.
Watch your breath as it flows in and out in its natural rhythm.
As you prepare yourself.
To commune with the beloved elephant-headed lord.
Ganesha was created by his mother,
Parvati.
Out of clay and earth.
Goddess Parvati,
The all-powerful cosmic mother.
Bestowed upon Ganesha.
Absolute power over the element earth.
Earth is the ground and foundation that nurtures all of creation.
And so when we embark upon a new venture,
Or lay the foundation for a new beginning.
We invoke Ganesha's blessings.
As the patron of Earth.
And grounding grace.
Within our own body,
The element Earth governs the root center,
The Muladhara Chakra.
And it is Ganesha himself?
Who presides over the sacred center.
In this practice we shall create an inner shrine for Ganesha at the root chakra.
I blew that title.
And seek His grace as benefactor and guardian.
As we set about creating this sacred shrine.
Let us first begin with an offering of mantra to honor Ganesha.
As I repeat the simple mantra three times.
And you're welcome to chant along with me.
As you chant,
Feel the vibration of the sound.
Anchor you to the earth beneath.
Bye.
Sri Ganeshaya Namaha.
Om Shri Ganeshaya Namaha.
Om Shri Ganeshaya Namahaar.
Bring your awareness back once more to the flow of your breath.
Simply following its natural rhythm.
As it flows in.
And flows out.
Now gently join the tip of your tongue.
With the tip of your ring finger on both the hands.
This is the gesture for balancing the earth element.
Which is called the Prithvi Mudra.
Let your hands remain in this gesture.
For as long as it feels comfortable.
On your next inhale,
Take your awareness down towards the tailbone.
The base of your spine.
And your sit bones,
The bones upon which your body rests.
This is the region of the Root Chakra,
The seat of the element Earth within your own body.
With each breath,
Remain gently aware of this room space.
Notice any sensations that arise here.
Intention.
Discomfort.
With a soft exhale down.
Release and talk,
Letting go of the tension.
Of the discomfort.
Continue to breathe with awareness at this space at the root of your spine.
And with each breath,
Feel energy gather at this root.
As you continue to breathe into this space.
Imagine a growing lawn.
Fine print.
Strong.
Stable.
And firmly anchored into the surface beneath you.
Rawr!
Visualize a beautiful lotus with four large petals.
Blossoming at this root centre.
The petals of this lotus are deep.
Rich and earthy red.
Seated at the center of this beautiful lotus is the majestic elephant-headed lord,
Shri Ganesha.
His skin is a deep golden yellow.
Anointed with a fragrant,
Earthy paste of turmeric and sandalwood.
Take in the fragrance.
As you take a moment to let your gaze stay upon this beautiful radiant yellow form of Ganesha.
His eyes are playful as he gazes upon you with love and compassion.
His ears are large,
Fan-like.
His trunk.
Is thick,
Long,
Graceful,
And curved.
And his belly a perfect round pot.
Around his wrist and legs.
I'd rate a rich red cloth.
He has two hands.
One hand raised in a gesture of fearlessness.
Reassuring you that you are always protected.
His other hand extends towards you.
In a gesture of bestowing boons.
Blessings showering you with all that you need for nourishment and support.
Rest here for a few moments in Ganesha's warm,
Comforting presence.
Feel him grounding you.
Strengthening your foundation.
Filling you with courage,
Vitality,
And stability.
Now with a heart filled with love and devotion.
Make an offering to Ganesha within this little,
Beautiful enough temple.
Mentally offer him fresh flowers,
Spray cream.
In full glow.
Add a small clay lamp.
Before him at his feet.
Offer him fragrant incense and clear water.
Offer him fruits,
Sweets.
Now get ready to make a deeper offering.
Gather all the fears,
Insecurities,
And burdens that weigh you down.
Bring them all to mind.
And lay them gently that can adjust fit.
If you stand at the threshold of a new beginning,
A new venture.
Offer this new beginning to him as well.
Please sit with devotion and trust in me.
In his guidance.
Thank Ganesha for his grace and his benevolent presence.
Ask Him to remain within you.
Protecting your roots.
Strengthening your foundation.
Removing the obstacles upon your path.
And guiding your steps forward.
Very well,
Very slowly.
Let this radiant vision of Ganesha dissolve into the golden light of your awareness.
As this form dissolves,
Remember that his presence remains within you always.
Take a few slow breaths.
Resting in the sweetness of his blessings,
Basking in the warmth of his love.
Notice your root center again.
How steady.
Strong and supported it feels.
Your body itself is a sacred temple.
And here at its very foundation,
Resides Ganesha.
Within the temple of Muladhara.
Here sits the beloved guardian of your roots.
Blessing the foundation upon which your very life unfolds.
Let us make an offering of mantra once again for Ganesha.
As we bring this meditation to a close.
Om Gangarneyshaya Namaha.
Nithyanandam.
Om Ganga Nimshanaya Namaha.
