Welcome,
This will be a short introduction to the five videos,
Five senses,
Sometimes called the doors of perception,
The five senses of sight,
Hearing,
Smell,
Taste and touch.
Most of our feelings and perceptions enter our experience through one or more of these five doors.
Our mind has capacity to know and discern what we see,
Smell,
Hear,
Taste or touch.
So why wouldn't we use these doors of perception as a means of calming and relaxing the mind?
So we make friends with our senses and we then utilize the information we receive through them as a means of calming the mind.
Sometimes it's referred as a self-antidote,
Using the source of distraction itself as the means to attaining freedom from distraction.
The most important thing is to realize that our body also needs to be aligned with our mind and breath in order to really be able to meditate and engage all the senses accordingly.
So I would like to remind you every time when you practice,
Straighten your spine and allow the rest of your body to relax comfortably.
Regarding the mind,
All the physical posture sounds easy,
There will be another video on that,
But how to align the mind and breath,
The mental posture.
So it is about finding some sort of balance within your mind,
Just like about a physical posture,
As I said,
A mind would find the same natural balance between relaxation and alertness.
The spine has to be straight,
But the muscles need to be relaxed.
So maybe the same balancing,
Mental relaxation,
Yet being open,
Allowing the mind's innate clarity to be revealed.
So for these five videos,
We will talk about object meditation,
When we use it.
