Thank you for joining me on this self-reflection meditation.
Allow your body to find a comfortable,
Restful position.
And if it is comfortable for you,
Allow your eyelids to close.
As you come into the space of reflecting on what it means to be you.
Allow your awareness to include.
Any forms of resistance that may be arising.
Gently move your awareness into the interior of your body.
And as you do so,
You may notice different sensations.
Allow each one to just arise and be released without any attachment or meaning.
Connect.
With your inner space.
And lightly allow yourself to feel what it feels like to be you.
The first time you do this,
It may seem a little strange,
It may not make sense,
But if you practice consistently,
You will start to notice that you have your very own specific feeling,
Feeling sense,
Energy signature,
Set of expected sensations that you can detect within your body.
We're not talking about the sensations of pain or discomfort or what it feels like if you gently brush your skin.
We're talking about a sensation within the mind.
Every quadrant of you.
That makes you think,
Oh yeah,
That feels like me.
In order to develop your skill at picking up what it feels like to be you.
You may wish to pick one body part,
Like your hand or your heart.
Preferably not the head because sometimes that correlates with the thinking mind a little bit strongly when we're developing the skill.
If you chose the heart,
For instance,
Then allow your awareness to rest within the center of your chest.
You could be choosing the anatomical heart or you could be choosing the heart energy which is in the center of the chest.
And as you feel it.
Notice the nuances that make you think,
Oh,
That's my center.
Perhaps you recognize that it feels heavy or joyful.
Perhaps you know that when you see yourself in the mirror,
You know that's you.
Because there's a feeling sense behind the awareness of what you look like on the outside.
There's a deeper feeling sense behind what you feel like on the inside.
As you're connected with your heart center or whichever body part you chose and feeling how it feels like to be you,
Within that body part.
Bring into your awareness.
Your favorite person in the world.
Notice if you can feel a shift in the quality of that energy.
As an example,
When I do this,
I will feel what it feels like to be Vanessa within my chest Then I may choose to feel,
Well,
What does it feel like?
To be my daughter.
And I bring my daughter into my awareness.
It almost feels like there's an overlay.
So that within the core i can feel what it feels like to be me But on top of that,
I can feel an energy signature or perception that I identify with her.
Notice if you can feel that when you bring a different person or a pet or even an object into your awareness.
A handy technique is to shift between the two.
Feel what it feels like just to be you.
And stay with that focus until you can feel,
Oh,
I just feel my own energy,
My own self.
And bring that other person or thing back into your awareness.
Notice how that makes you shift.
Then go back to feeling your own energy and just you.
And then back to the other energy.
As you begin to play with this and shift back and forth between the two,
You can start to notice a distinction.
So when I first started practicing,
I chose my father as the other person,
And I could really feel a very distinct separation of what's mine and what's his.
So if you are doing this within your own body and it seems a little too mashed together and you can't identify the two different feelings,
A different technique you could apply is to mentally create two objects.
You can create something like a very simple flower.
And you'll have two of them,
You choose a color for each one.
Say I choose red and blue,
Within the red flower I will place my own energy signature.
I will visualize a flower and feel this is the flower representing me.
Then the other flower,
The blue flower,
I will choose it and visualize it and hold the sensation of it within me and say This is the flower I'm using to represent my daughter,
My father,
My spouse.
Pet.
And place their energy signature within that flower.
And then in this way you can act as a third party observer and you allow yourself to sense one flower,
That's you.
And then allow yourself to sense the other flower.
And notice the difference in energy signature in that one.
In the same way we did before,
Bounce back and forth where you sense the blue flower,
The other person's flower.
And you sense your own flower.
And as you practice with a very,
Very light amount of attention,
In a very soft focus,
You will start to pick up more and more how the two different energy signatures feel very different.
In the beginning,
It feels quite subtle,
And that's totally normal.
But as you grow and improve on your detection skills and your ability to discern energy signatures,
You'll notice that there are severely different feels between one person's field one day and maybe even the same person on a different day,
Or your own field on a really balanced day versus a day when you feel very chaotic and stressed out.
So when you practice this skill and you identify how you feel on a very balanced beautiful moment,
Perhaps after a meditation or a long relaxing walk.
You can start to identify what your energy feels like when it's balanced.
And also what your energy feels like when you start to become imbalanced.
The more often you practice this,
The more you will pick up on the subtleties,
Which become less subtle.
Of the shifts in energy.
If you practice regularly,
You'll start to be able to identify when your own balanced energy starts to shift away from the balance that you're used to or the balance that you prefer.
And in that way,
You can help yourself return to balance sooner.
A parallel example that we can use from our external environment would be early detection of a fire.
For a person who is very unaware,
Maybe overly engaged in their work or their phone or life circumstances,
They may not notice that their house is on fire until there's a full-on blaze.
But for a person who's very present and very aware of how their baseline house smells and feels and sounds,
They might notice something crackling on the stove right away.
We can apply that example to the body.
Where some people will feel a migraine headache once it's full blown,
But a person who's sensitive to how their body flows,
How it functions,
How it maintains its own balance,
May start to notice disharmonies arising way before a migraine would manifest,
And they can start to implement different tools to return their body to balance before any pain manifests,
Or perhaps they can curb it so that it is not as intense.
Tense as it may have become if they hadn't caught it earlier.
So practice this skill.
It helps you with discerning what's yours and discerning what isn't yours.
In addition to helping you with stress management and managing your health symptoms,
It can also help you discern when you may be picking up other people's emotions,
Emotional baggage,
Or pressures that they're putting on you that aren't even your own.
When you are unable to identify whether it's your own,
You just think that it's your stress.
That's rising.
When perhaps it never was yours to begin with.
So discernment is really really valuable in our lives when we interact with others and in our lives when we are working on improving our health and our stress levels.
Let me know how it goes and feel free to follow me and I'll see you at the next meditation.
